5.0 out of 5 stars Finn at his best!, 8 April 2009
This review is from: Elegies: a Song Cycle (Audio CD)
This is definately Finn at his best. The songs are witty, sad, intimate and reassuring. The voices are extremely good, perhaps with the exception of Betty Buckley whom I find has a slightly grating vibrato. However, this cannot detract from an excellent and well written song cycle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mr Toppit this way comes, 7 April 2009
This review is from: Mr Toppit (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the eccentricities not just of the characters, but of the writing itself. I really hope that Mr Elton writes more!!! An entertaining, dark pseudo fairytale: both comic and grim.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bebo raises his game, 28 Feb. 2009
Bebo Norman is a very gifted christian singer. The folk rock style of this album and the songs, each one better than the last really sets him apart. His voice is sincere, yet contemporary and relevant. A thoroughly good buy,,,with a definate message.

5.0 out of 5 stars a little piece of the hill, 14 April 2008
This review is from: Christe Lux Mundi (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful CD. The music of Taize has long been recognised for its haunting, prayerful (and joyful) qualities, and this CD does not fail to deliver. It takes you to a place beyond conciousness, allowing you the inner space to commune with that which you may or may not call God.

These chants, unlike earlier chants, are mostly written by the brothers themselves, but their harmonic structure and simplicity remains true to the original Jaques Berthier chants of yesteryear.

If you want to pray quietly at home, buy this. Better still, play it at the beginning of a long journey. It will teach you much about the importance of pilgrimage.
