5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, 2 May 2014

Absolutely excellent! Season two is just as good as the first, I'm glad to say. The box set itself is not such a good design though, and for some bizarre reason they put the last episode on the special features disc, and it doesn't say anywhere! The special features disc just rattles around in a cardboard sleeve, and I totally missed 'Anasazi' until I decided to watch the extras!

Giving this five stars because it's the actual series that matters in the end.

I absolutely loved this film! The acting was good all round, but I think the highlight of this film was Jack Palance in his debut role. Really recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Marilyn, 16 Jan 2014
This review is from: Love, Marilyn [DVD] (DVD)
Brilliantly put together, unlike any documentory I have ever seen before! There are some amazing rare film clips, and most of it is spoken through Marilyn's words by various actors. The wonderful thing is, the actors aren't imitating Monroe - they are incorperating the words of how they feel about what she is saying.

5.0 out of 5 stars An uknown classic!, 16 Jan 2014
Quite frankly, I'm surprised that this is not more well-known. It was one of the brilliant Kay Kendall's last films, which has a diamond studded cast wich includes Rex Harrison (Cleopatra, My Fair Lady), Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote, Death On The Nile), Sandra Dee (Come September, Doctor You've Got To Br Kidding Me) and John Saxon (Running Wild, Summer Love). The film also features the lovely Diane Clare (Ice Cold in Alex, Plague of the Zombies), who, like Dee, was in one of her first roles.

The story is sweet, light and classy, revolving around the Broadbent family. Jimmy Broadbent's (Harrison) 17-year-old daughter by his first marriage, Jane, (Dee) who he hasn't seen for three years is coming over to live with him and his new wife Sheila (Kendall). They meet her at the airport, and as they are leaving, they run into Sheila's cousin Mabel (Lansbury) and her debutante daughter Clarissa (Clare). Jane and Clarissa instantly hit it off and go off to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Pallace. While they are gone, Mabel boasts that Clarissa has been invited to loads of debutant balls, and not waning to be outshone by her cousin, Sheila sayd that Jane is also making her debut into London society. Jane is a reluctant debutant, and is bored stiff by all the wealthy singles Shaila tries to pair her off with. We lean that Clarissa has fallen in love with the crashing bore David Fenner, but he os only interested in Jane. To Sheila's horror, Jane has fallen for David Parkson - a drummer in a rock'n'roll band who already has an unsavoury reputation!

With lavish sets and beatiful costumes, The Reluctant Debutante is a little masterpeice which deserves more recognition. Well, after all, it was the 12th most popular Britsh box office hit in 1959!

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked it, even if the critics didn't!, 21 Oct 2013
This review is from: Diana [DVD] (DVD)
I really enjoyed this film, despite it's overwhelmingly bad reviews. I understand that it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think some people have rather ganged up on this film; that's just my opinion. It has very little to do with Di's public life and her death, which I think disappointed some people. It focuses almost entirely upon her relationship with Hasnat Khan. It's a sweet, romantic film, and when I saw it, there wasn't a dry eye in the cinema by the end!

Give this film a try, you never know, you might just enjoy it!

I love this series to much! The acting is really good, and it is great to hear Shaun Cassidy sing occasionally! Pamela Sue Martin is good as Nancy Drew, but plays her very differently to Emma Roberts. This is an amazing series, definitely worth the money!

Put Out the Light
Put Out the Light
by Ethel Lina White
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!, 8 July 2013
This review is from: Put Out the Light (Paperback)
This is a brilliant story! Ethel Lina White is an amazing author, who can keep you hooked on the edge of your seat! I realize now how difficult it is to find a summary of this book, so here is mine!

The plot revolves around Anthea Vine: selfish, greedy, vain and heartless. She captures people with her money, never to let them go. She has three bitter adopted children, Charles, Frances and Iris. Iris is in love with Dr Lawrence, who is in deep finacial debt to Anthea. Charles has fallen for Anthea's secretary, Sally Morgan. Throught the book, Anthea gains more and more enemies.
Anthea is severly shaken when an 'accident' happens, and she falls into a lake and nearly drowns. She suddenly realizes what danger she is in, hated by everyone. But soon she is back to her old self again. In the town, there has been a series of stange, even downright weird robberies which are baffeling the local constaulary, Superintendant Pye.
One dark night, things come to a head, and let's say, Anthea doesen't live to see the morning. But who did it? And will they strike again?

Thouroughly recommend this book! It's really suspenseful and guarenteed to make you leave your bedroom light on at night!
