The Avengers and Me
The Avengers and Me
by Patrick Macnee
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth buying., 20 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Avengers and Me (Paperback)
A ghost written book but it tells the basic story of how the Avengers were born and grew to international stardom through mainly Patrick Macnee's eyes. Contains comments from others involved behind the lens and has photos on every one of its 144 glossy pages.Overall a great book for Avengers fans and that includes me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super duper, 31 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Scandinavian copy of the last third of the black and white episodes in the series. All episodes are in English with the option of various sub-titles or none at all.Only place I could find these rare treasures was on the foreign dvd but what a bargain for 'Saint' admirers like me;marvellous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dutch treat, 31 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Didn't register with me before purchase that these were actually Dutch versions of the dvd but apart from Dutch writing on the cases they are brilliant. All episodes are in English with the option of Dutch sub-titles only which is not a problem personally.
I can recommend this set 100% and much better than buying individual copies sporadically.Very good purchase.

Ninth Gate [1999] [US Import] [Blu-ray] [Region A]
Dvd ~ Johnny Depp

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 1 Nov 2013

I liked Johnny Depp immensely in Sleepy Hollow and this film is even better. It is one of the few storylines in a movie I can actually empathise with.I would do almost exactly the same as his character does if I were in his position. OK there is a little unnecessary sex at the end and the actual last scene is somwewhat 'up in the air' but the quality of the filming, the acting and the storyline overall is marvellous. It is one of my top 10 favourite films of all time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Epitaph, 19 Nov 2011
Having bought every episode of the TV series available and having neen a fan of Callan since it was first broadcast I feel qualified to comment on Wet Job.
Like the film'Callan',Wet Job is a welcome extension to the Callan family but it is equally not made to same quality as the TV series.
The Callan in this later episode is still recognisable as our old 'friend' but after that the programme fails to live up to it's heritage.Lonely is sadly misused and feels like an afterthought in the storyine. Why the character of Liz is still maintained without Lisa Langdon in place is very disappointing.No-one could believe that character after watching the TV episodes. That was very poor production.
Overall for Callan fans I feel it is worth watching but like the film version it does not hit the right notes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, 27 April 2011
This review is from: Bonfire Night (Hardcover)
This was the fourth Callan novel I read and to be perfectly frank...it's awful.
James Mitchell passed away shortly after this book came out and one can't help but wonder what he was trying to do.
If you like the Callan stories stay away from this one as it is Callan only in name.
Personally I could not even get half way through and I am a HUGE Callan fan.
This is not Callan as we know and love him.

The Tank, The Swan and The Balloon [DVD]
Dvd ~ Erasure

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 15 Jun 2010
Quality of music just on the VHS copy of the show was 10 out of 10.Erasure caught at the zenith of their career.Bought this video in 1994 and still play it to this day.Simply the best Erasure concert ever filmed.
Special praise for the backing singers whose harmonies are in perfect combination with Andy Bell

5.0 out of 5 stars classic comedy of the old type, 2 Jan 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Series 1 is amazing. It is top notch comedy without constant swearing.Old fashioned comedy which does not need the 'F'word to get a laugh. There is I think there is one 'F' word in the Christmas edition in series 2.
The writers are to be commended in that all episodes are of top quality without exception. This is carried on into series 2 although the fantastic Megan Dodds is replaced by different blond character.
If you ,like Lee Mack and Tim Vine then you should not be disappointed in Not Going Out.Roll on series 3 in january 2009

5.0 out of 5 stars unbeatable comedy, 17 Oct 2007
This is the first and only(that I can find)cassette or cd of this series.I missed half of the programmes on the radio of this the initial set of episodes. They are the funniest comedy on radio of recent years. The Headmaster and the Solicitor are both classic.I cannot find copies of any more of the series which is a great pity.In my opinion the radio series was much superior to the TV version.
Sorry to see what has happened to Chris Langham in his personal life.He is a loss to comedy.
