Babylon 5: The Complete Universe [DVD]
Babylon 5: The Complete Universe [DVD]
Dvd ~ Janet Greek

5.0 out of 5 stars The best sci-fi tv show ever made, 10 May 2011
This version of a dark future where politics is still the force on earth that makes is rotate is so very much more believable than that other long running tv series where everybody wears jumpsuits and the walls are always know who I'm talking about....

A dark and brooding alien enemy that lurks as a back story and builds to a gripping, edge of seat all out war with the obligatory space ships battles, explosions, ray guns and fist fights - but running alongside this the character development builds and builds - you end up with people on screen that you shout at, boo and hiss and even cry over.

The quality of the stories grow as the series writers play with ideas, introduce new and more devious villians and follow those up with charming heroes.

This box includes the spin off series about the Rangers and all the movies. My fave episode would have to be the flash forward to the distant future when mankind have to leave planet earth as the sun is about to expire: the scope of this series is so big it out lives planet earth.. Just great stuff..

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent value.., 10 May 2011
This is quite probably the funniest television to come out of the UK. The comic genius trio that is Richard Curtis, Ben Elton and Rowan Atkinson have created a gem; this boxset deserves to be given pride of place on your shelf, plus it's mighty fine value too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius, 10 May 2011

This is one of those band that deserves to be so much bigger than they are..

I confess I purchased this after 'that scene' from High Fidelity [DVD] [2000]

I was hooked after hearing just 15 seconds, took the plunge and bought the cd. It is one of the very few albums that I can listen to from start to finish without skipping any tracks..

Get this album - you'll not regret it..

1.0 out of 5 stars Dull, 24 Nov 2008
This review is from: The Quiet Earth [DVD] (DVD)
Spotted this and foolishly believed the reviews. Its an hour and a half I'll never get back. So full of "you would not do that!" screaming at the tv moments that I very nearly gave up before the end. Belief me, I wish I had - the finale (overstatement)is utter dross. The lead character - we're told to believe is a boffin who's part of a worldwide project that the yanks manipulate and botch, this project has the vague purpose of tinkering with the ionosphere for no apparent reason. After the device shifts the dimension of every human save these 3 misfits to some place else; This supposed genius then mooches about town in his underwear as he has a breakdown brought about by being all alone. He then holds a strange party with cardboard cutouts in his garden whilst dressed in womens clothing and the film goes downhill from there - including a predictably native male as the baddy (no stereotypes there then) I could go on describing this apalling film but I can't spare the keystrokes.
More reviews to follow - this is fun..
