5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, perfect fit., 7 Jan 2013

After trying several 'standard' style covers, each of which just looked tacky, I tried the natural look of this one.

It is well made, solid, a perfect fit (Kobo Glo), looks good (wabi sabi with quality) and even has the faint aroma of the natural material if you sniff up close!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb sound, reasonable build quality, 4 Feb 2011

The sound quality is excellent. Using omni-directional input the audio files are absolutely crisp and clear with zero noise.

The base of the unit is very solid and weighty so the mic is easily stood up on the desk, but it is not too weighty to be an issue when clipped directly to the top of my laptop screen. Unlike the base the actual mic itself is a little plasticky (especially the joint to the base) but given the carry case that comes with it I don't think that will be an issue even long-term.

One thing to be aware of when first using it in Vista - when I tried it (on 2 Vista installs) in each case it appeared to record but the results were silent. It turns out that as the mic has a zero-latency audio jack built in for monitoring the sound, Vista installs it as an output device as well as an input one and then proceeds to set it as the default sound output whilst it is connected. With nothing plugged into that jack I got silence. Changing the output audio device default whilst the Samson was connected sorted it and Vista retained that setting on future use. Not a Samson issue, just Vista trying to be helpful, but something to be aware of as it would be easy to assume it is broken if this happens to you.

This review is from: The Transformed Man (Audio CD)
I ordered this on a whim, expecting nothing more than adequate comedy to show for the outlay. It arrived three days ago and I am currently listening to it as I have done ever since - at work on the iPod Touch, at home on the laptop and in the car. I don't know how many times I've gone through it, but I am easily into double figures.

William Shatner was (and presumably is) a genius. Or his musical collaboraters were. Or it was a lucky coincidence. The tracks, except for the last, follow the same pattern; split roughly in half the first is Shakespeare with some ambient music and the second is actual musical tracks with Shatner providing the lyrics. Each half deals with the same subject but in contrasting style.

The highlights for me are his Hamlet/A Very Good Year and Henry the 5th/Elegy for the Brave, though the final track "The Transformed Man" is quite exceptional too.

He gets power and emotion in. Melancholy fights with victory, love with battle.

Two things to note:
1. You need to listen in one sitting, uninterrupted, ideally with headphones - and actually pay attention.
2. Listen for the incidental music a second or so after he speaks the word "enterprise" in his Hamlet quotation...

In all, one of the best collections of music I have ever heard.
