Quick & Clever Watercolor Pencils
Quick & Clever Watercolor Pencils
by Charles Evans
Edition: Paperback
Price: £15.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational !, 19 May 2013
I found this book at a boot sale, took it home and started using it the same evening..great book
to get you into using watercolour (pencils). Easy to follow and inspiring Charles Evans gives a
good grounding in sketch book style art. The pleasing thing is the artist does not use a slew of
expensive paints or brushes, the expense of art materials puts a lot of folks off painting/drawing.

A used copy of this book is good investment, heartily recommended :-}

Painting in Watercolour
Painting in Watercolour
by Various
Edition: Paperback

2.0 out of 5 stars Patchy instructions for begineers.., 18 May 2013
Described as a 'Complete course for the beginner' this book disappoints with patchy and
poorly defined painting steps. As a novice painter I was looking for a stroke by stroke
description to create the examples shown. The steps shown tend to jump ahead a little too much
for a beginner to follow. Perhaps a new painter with more experience would master the example artworks.
The finished pieces would be very nice to complete and are interesting, maybe with more brushwork
under my belt I will return to this book, but for now it will collect dust on the bookshelf.

I would not recommend this book to a complete novice..

5.0 out of 5 stars First class 'Frost' again. !!, 21 Jan. 2011
A tongue-in-cheek purchase that turned out to be a gem. Lee Frost really
does try to author interesting and fresh photography books, with his 50 projects
he has done it again. The book presents neatly presented and inspirational
projects dealing with a diverse range of subjects. I am sure there will be
of plenty of digital only advocates who may not want use the film suggestions
but the idea of the book is to get you out of the point and shoot doldrums
and get discipline into your photography endeavours without stifling creativity.

I would certainly recommend this to anyone who is willing to try new ways with
their imaging making.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tutorial.., 21 Jan. 2011
A novel and inspirational approach to developing your artistic
tendencies. Plenty of exercises and projects to help experienced
and wannabe artists. I bought this after years of abstinence from any
type of sketching or inking endeavours. The author really did
help with her approach and writing style...well worth the money

2.0 out of 5 stars No inspiration here..., 21 Jan. 2011
I have a couple of Garrett books already and hoped this may be somewhat better. Alas no
inspiration was found in any of the topics or images. I guess the publication is from a by-gone era and much better images/instruction is readily available all over the Internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars First class reading.., 21 Jan. 2011
I was not expecting too much from this book, after reading a lot of older photography literature. However
it was very informative and a damn good read, this will remain a solid reference while I use filters. The
images are very demonstrative of all the filters used and are not to found in other Frost books as is the case with
John Hedgecoe books for example. I would recommend this to anyone who wants total creative control over their image making.

2.0 out of 5 stars Same Old, 12 Feb. 2005
This review is from: Franz Ferdinand (Audio CD)
As an Hippie I have been listening to pop/rock etc for 40yrs, this album is nothing new. Drums, Guitar and Vocals are 'Similar to' or 'Reminiscent of'...
This CD is a 'Play it too stay awake' while driving at night album.
Seems the music industry will stamp out anything, as long as a
someone may buy it.
