A Fitting, Funny and Warm Tribute, 19 July 2006
Trash! is a great read and succeeds in bringing the story of the New York Dolls to life in an entertaining and well-written manner. The authors obviously care about their subject matter and have researched the band's story, their social context and post-Dolls lives. There are plenty of great anecdotes and first hand accounts from the band and those close to them. Johnny, David Jo, Arthur, Syl and Jerry are presented as real three-dimensional people, and not simply characterised in the clichéd manner that many journalists have made the mistake of adopting. Arthur Kane emerges as the star of a book that is a fitting tribute to his memory.
