5.0 out of 5 stars Good product - competitive price, 26 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good quality and reliable brand. Quick drying and doesn't seem to smudge print like some lower priced highlighters. I confess that I've never tried to refill them - You still have the refill packaging so I'm not completely convinced of why you would when the new ones are a reasonable price. Good product at a competitive price.

Blackpool and Preston (Explorer Maps) (OS Explorer Map)
Blackpool and Preston (Explorer Maps) (OS Explorer Map)
by Ordnance Survey
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant map of Blackpool and surrounding area, 26 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Like all the Explorer series, this is a terrific map. It may be slightly old fashioned to rely on a paper based map rather than a digital one, but for me, nothing beats the paper maps. They show so much detail while covering a large area. Digital maps have their place, but so too do paper maps. This is terrific for exploring Blackpool and the surrounding areas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really lovely set of colouring pencils that sharpen to a great point, 26 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Lovely shades and great quality colouring pencils. They feel great on the paper and sharpen to a really nice point. Critically, the lead doesn't chip and break like many coloured pencils. These are by far my favourite brand and this is a great set. The colour range is relatively muted but this is quality over quantity. Great set.

Tacwise 18G 50mm Brad Electric Nail Gun
Tacwise 18G 50mm Brad Electric Nail Gun
Price: £116.69

5.0 out of 5 stars Good safety features and high quality build, 1 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a very good nail gun. The build of the gun is of a very high standard and, barring a minor niggle about the length of the power chord, this would be hard to beat for a semi-professional / amateur builder. Of course, it's not quite up to the power of the "professional" units that rely on air compressors, but this is more than good enough for almost all household tasks. Added to that, the safety features are well thought out. This is critical for its target market. You would have to try quite hard to get it to fire accidentally (and don't even try!). What I particularly liked was that, compared with other units, it is easy to access tight corners and the visibility of where you are nailing is good. Overall, a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance, 26 Jan. 2015

Really good performance with a nice citrus smell. Glasses come up clear and it cuts through food left on plates as well as any other dishwasher tablets I've used. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unobtrusive AV, 16 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
McAfee have done a good job making their anitvirus system less resource heavy than the earlier versions. The one odd thing is that they have an odd view about getting people to renew by not offering the best price. Illogically, it is often cheaper to buy a new version each year, so my advice is not to sign up for annual renewals. The product comes with a code to download from the McAfee website. Downloading is fast (depending on your connection speed of course) and the product runs perfectly from the off. I have not had any issues since installing the AV. Going back a few years, I found McAfee to slow the computer down unacceptably but have no such qualms about this latest version. It's a good, safe bet and a well respected name.

Forefront Cases Leather Shell Case Cover for Amazon Kindle Voyage 2014 - Metal Black
Forefront Cases Leather Shell Case Cover for Amazon Kindle Voyage 2014 - Metal Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Great protection, well made and superb value, 6 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Compared with other products currently available, this represents superb value. It's well made and fits the Kindle Voyage perfectly. It opens like a normal book rather than the odd way the Amazon cover - with it's high price - does. Sure it adds a little to the bulk of the super-slim Voyage, but it's more than acceptable. The cover opens to lay flat or can be folded back on itself. The magnetic clasp does the job - although it's not the strongest magnet in the world, and the on off switch is nicely recessed but still offers good access. In fact, as well as protecting the kindle screen, the tendency of the on off button to switch on accidentally in a bag is another reason to buy this excellent shell case. It's solid in feel and really feels that it offers good protection. Highly recommended, if not essential.

Rivers: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)
Rivers: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coverage of the human and physical geography of rivers with a slightly odd middle bit, 6 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Nick Middleton's "Rivers" is a slightly eclectic approach to the subject - which is one of the strengths of this excellent series. The first and final chapters (Nature's Driver and Tamed Rivers) are the best in my view - dealing with the physical and human geographies of rivers. As Middleton is a geographer, this is perhaps not surprising. He writes entertainingly with great clarity and the structure is logical. I'm in two minds about the middle chapters which deal with what you might term the culture of rivers - looking at their role in spirituality, literature, art etc. While the coverage is typical of this series in providing a rounded view of the subject matter, Middleton seems - forgive the pun - a bit out of his depth here. The problem is that he takes a few examples but there is no sense of why he picks these or how representative these are. He's far more authoritative when on his core area. I ended up feeling that this was padding. The "two minds" comes from the fact that I like the idea of including these areas but, for me, these either needed to be shorter or longer. They are sort of caught mid stream (sorry again) and are neither one thing nor the other - he seems to meander (OK, I'll stop) through the topic without clear direction. However, the book is worth it for the rest of the book and the inclusion of the less obvious elements are certainly thought provoking.
