Respiratory Physiology: The Essentials
by John B. West

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have, 28 Nov. 2013
This is without a doubt another 'must-have' for the FRCA exam. The text is easy to read and is complemented by simple line diagrams.

Edition: Paperback
Price: £32.95

4.0 out of 5 stars A handy reference, 20 Nov. 2013
I haven't used the new edition yet but I keep a copy of this edition in my bag at all times. It's a handy, accessible resource that is equally useful in clinical practise and when vivaing trainees.

Physics, Pharmacology and Physiology for Anaesthetists: Key Concepts for the FRCA
Physics, Pharmacology and Physiology for Anaesthetists: Key Concepts for the FRCA
by Matthew Cross
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Separates the wheat from the chaff, 20 Nov. 2013
I can't praise this book enough. A simple, focussed book that dominates a gap in the FRCA revision market. This book comes into its own a couple of months before the primary or final vivas; it is quite possible to go through the entire book in a day and review a huge amount of high yield equations and graphs. A great concept for a revision book.

An engaging read that is both comprehensive and credible. I particularly liked the book's pragmatic approach to the pregnant woman. In my opinion, this is a must have for trainees in anaesthesia.

Equipment in Anaesthesia and Critical Care: A complete guide for the FRCA

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly clear and well written, 14 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A refreshingly clear and well-written book! It looks great, with colour photos, diagrams and a crisp, uncluttered layout. I love the standardised format which makes dipping in and out of the book a breeze. The list of advantages and disadvantages for each bit of kit is a particularly nice touch that, in my opinion, gives the reader a better feel for the equipment in practise. I've only read a few chapters so far, but they seem to be set out in a logical manner with useful chapter introductions. My only gripe is that the authors have not (yet?) released a Kindle/ electronic version of the book.

In summary, this was money well spent and I'm sure the book will become a firm favourite amongst trainees tackling the FRCA.
