3.0 out of 5 stars two dimensional, 21 Aug 2012
This review is from: Born To Die (Audio CD)
A strong voice from a new talent made me want to hear more even though I am one of the few people who finds Video Games a dirge. I got the CD and found it had great initial impact largely because many of the tunes are rythmic.

Sadly on subsequent plays the flimsiness comes through. Lyrics and production are poor and just pop. With a great writer it is the subsequent play after play that reveals the qualities as the subtle aspects come through. This is the opposite and becomes bland and boring with subsequent plays. Its two dimensional and repetative. Carmen and Off to the Races will last but the rest will be forgotten.

Lana has great potential but she needs some guidance from Bob Dylan on lyrics and Daniel Lanois with production.

4.0 out of 5 stars almost a great, 11 Feb 2011
This review is from: Presence (Audio CD)
Presence suffers from the canon of work in which it sits. When you are created by the greatest rock writers of all time you have to be stunning to stand out. It is very good but a couple of weaker tracks stop it being with the best of what zep created.

That said Achilles Last Stand is close to perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars One thing to do before you die- Watch this!, 25 Oct 2006
From the very first episode to the last i was gripped. Everything about lost as a drama works, action,sci-fi and murder mystery all rolled into one addictive series. Once you start watching you just can't stop, and when your all out of episodes you find yourself desperately trying to find out when the next series will be released.Seriously, buy it!

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NO JOSHUA TREE, 13 Oct 2006
The Edge contribution means it works overall but there is no One Tree Hill quality on this.Original of the Species justifies its production and Crumbs from your Table is worth a listen. The rest is average although ...make it on your own is overrated unless you are struggling to sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN ENCAPSULATION OF ALL EMOTIONS, 12 Oct 2006
This review is from: Blood On The Tracks (Audio CD)
Listen to this loud and alone, without distractions, and have the lyric sheet near at hand. This will make you think, listen again and think some more.In possibly his greatest work Dylan expresses one or more emotions to which we can all relate somewhere or at sometime. If you want the antithesis of manufactured image driven substanceless pop you have found it.

Although there was some very good intervening material,Dylan would not produce anything of this quality again until 1997 when Grammy winner Time Out of Mind enriched our lives and on which his masterpiece Not Dark Yet appears.

One of these two is his best and which may depend on your mood when you listen.

Blood On The Tracks best track? That is a very difficult question and in many ways it only exists as a whole work but,if pressed, Shelter From The Storm. Pure Genius
