5.0 out of 5 stars Led Zep II - masterpiece, 23 Aug. 2004
This review is from: Led Zeppelin 2 (Audio CD)
I absolutely love this band! The greatest Rock machine to ever grace the Earth. This is one of (if not) THE ultimate Led Zep platter. Who cares that the titles were unimaginative?? For me, that's part of the attraction: that they let the music speaks volumes for itself rather than waste time on snazzy titles! Just crank it up - it's Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, Whole Lotta Love, Moby Dick... all on one cracking album! If only they made 'em like this nowadays...!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated defined, 23 Aug. 2004
This review is from: Led Zeppelin III (Audio CD)
Following on from the heavy blues offerings from the first two quality Zeppelin albums, this was probably easy to slate at the time and I believe it was. I'm so glad that this has now got the recognition it so rightly deserves. It's packed with classics; Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Gallows Pole, Tangerine, That's the Way, Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp et al. Much more folky than blues, it's atrue masterpiece and currently my fave Led Zep long player.

5.0 out of 5 stars If only there was a 3rd album..., 11 Feb. 2003
This review is from: Barrett (Audio CD)
Overall, more together than "Madcap" production-wise, but the songs pretty much the same quality. "Dominoes" perhaps the saddest song Barrett has ever written, alongside gems such as "Baby Lemonade", "Gigolo Aunt", "Wined and Dined" and "Effervescing Elephant". It is such a pity that Syd never continued, but it simply didn't interest him anymore. Therefore you have to respect the man for it. Shine on Roger - we will always miss you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly a classic, 20 Jan. 2003
This review is from: Elv1s: 30 #1 Hits (Audio CD)
This Elv1s compilation would be complete with I Got Stung (uh-huh, uh-huh ... YEH!) and Viva Las Vegas - does any compilation have this track???!! Apart from that, it's a masterstroke and a must in anyone's CD collection. Dig Elv1s - dig Life. Long live the King.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cambridge's favourite son, 19 Jun. 2002
This review is from: The Madcap Laughs (Audio CD)
This album will not become immediately accessible on first hearing, but once you start to understand the music, complex wordplay, as well as the man himself, you will discover that Syd Barrett is a truly unique genuis who tragically faded away years too early. Shine on Roger.

5.0 out of 5 stars "And in the end...", 16 Jun. 2002
This review is from: Abbey Road (Audio CD)
There are a million words I could write to describe this classic album. However, to put it succinctly, this is my all-time favourite album. This is the work of a band who were breaking up for goodness sake and who knew this was to be the swansong of the greatest band ever..The medleys are the most awe inspiring and moving pieces committed to rock record. To say they had run out of ideas is absolutely absurd. True, there are a couple of lesser tracks in my opinion, but hey, we are talking The Beatles here - lesser tracks by The Beatles are the equivalent to the quality of material most contemporary bands make a living from nowadays. Abbey Road is easily up there with Revolver, but because this was the last thing they did, it will always have an edge over that 1966 classic. You Never Give Me Your Money is my most favourite song ever, but just look down the list ... Come Together, Something, Here Comes The Sun, Because, Golden Slumbers ... Abbey Road is a musical adventure and a testament to the greatest band in the history of rock music.
