These headphones are utterly gorgeous - they look and feel fantastic, are well designed and just a lovely thing to own. They come in a lovely leather pouch, kept inside another leather holder and give an overall feeling of exceptional quality and design. There's also a great little set of play/pause and volume buttons half way up the lead, which saves fiddling around with your ipod.
However, what really matters is of course what they're like in use. The cans are held on by the top strap and by pressing against your ears. That way there's little sound leakage. Unfortunately this means that after a while, they start to hurt. My ears ache after 30-40 minutes of use, which isn't great.
The bigger let down is the sound. Whilst they sound perky enough on their own - and compared to other cheaper, flimsier products, when compared to reference cans at the same price bracket, their limitations are very stark. Comparing these to the Audio Technica ATH-A900X | Art Monitor Headphones (Japan Import) [Electronics
] for instance and you'll probably never want to use them again. The sound is far murkier, unsparkly, dense and compressed, with poor bass response.
If you want sound quality - and comfort for hours on end, I'd check out the Audio Technicas. If you want style and retro cool, you could do worse than check these out.
