4.0 out of 5 stars mostly excellent, 1 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The toothbrush handset itself is one of the best I have ever used. The choice of pressing the start button to go through the cleaning modes is good ergonomic design and keeps the device free of additional buttons. The orange light at the back comes on if you press harder than necessary, presumably to save both tooth enamel and toothbrush durability. I particularly like the extra whitening mode (the third one in the cycle) which gives you a squeeky clean feel, and so if you use whitening toothpaste should give slightly quicker results. The trizone head is also good because it is the shape of a manual toothbrush, so you get the best of both worlds.

The only thing I don't particularly take to in this set is the idea of having the charger base slotted into the little storage case for additional toothbrush heads. The problem with that is you are likely to want the brushes in your bathroom, but if you want it slotted in with the charger base (as per meticulous design) then you need a power socket in your bathroom, which not many homes have these days, unless you have one of those shaver sockets above your sink like some newly furnished or newly built apartments, might have (or hotel bathrooms). I have to charge my toothbrush outside of the bathroom because there is (rightly, for safety) no electricity socket in there.

PaperPro Evo Compact One Finger 15 Sheet Capacity Power Stapler
PaperPro Evo Compact One Finger 15 Sheet Capacity Power Stapler

4.0 out of 5 stars Compact and effective, 30 Aug 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Not quite one finger. I thought from the description in the listing it would be very small, but it's only a little smaller than my old stapler. Having said that it is very light and it does work with one finger with a little effort. It has an interesting loading mechanism, where you pull out the cartridge/loader and turn the stapler upside down and load the staples in that way. When you press to staple you get a loud-ish purposeful click and the staple feel almost like it has been fired into the papers. The one I received came with one strip of staples already loaded into the cartridge. You will need to buy a box of extra staples when you get this, if you don't already have them for an old stapler.

My cat loves this. He took to the toy straightway and it's fun for me also to watch him get all playful with the feather bits sticking out of the snake head. It's a very cute toy, it's long furry and great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome blender, 28 Aug 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
From indredients to delicious berry smoothy in minutes. Out of the box it works easily, safely and a very soilid elegant and ergonomic design. Easy to clean and keep clean. The stainless steel mixing canister that comes with it is perfect too. Light but solid. Looks indestructible.

Considering it's a commercial mixer, it doesn't look out of place on my kitchen counter at home (I have a small kitchen).

The two speed power option is good, and the fact that you don't press buttons at the top to activate the mixer is convenient - it works by pressing the mixing canister up into a hidden sprung/pressure switch near the top behind the mixing shaft. There is also a useful little ledge that holds the canister in place while it's being used.

I was ambitious to try and make the berry smoothy because the mixer looks strong enough to do that (and it works); however it is strictly a drinks mixer so just be sure you know that this is not the sort of unit you would use for making smoothies with more solid fruit and certainly no good for frappuccinos (this mixer is not good for crushing ice). You would need a dedicated blender for that sort of thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Odd but entertaining, 27 Aug 2014

What an odd movie. I think by the end I thought this is more about man vs environment than some religious devotion movie. I as curious as to what motivated Aaronofsky to direct this, and it's mix of fantasy mixed in with the bible story and the environmental issues, kind of made it clearer but still, odd but I enjoyed the epic nature of it. The Icelandic landscape in much of the shots is awesome. I did find the whole procreation from one family very ... Uncomfortable. Biblical stories are contradictory aren't they? Maybe made sense in times gone by, but there is a bit of eeeeew factor about the whole keep it in the family thing.

Russell Crowe is very good as the internally conflicted Noah, and Emma Watson is very very good in her role.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit Slippery, 26 Aug 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Out of the box it opens out, and clicks in place, quite intuitively without need to check instructions. There is a "button" as they call it, which you need to find at the bottom of the box, and screw in at the top, which gives you a rudimentary difficulty regulator. The main thing I found is that it slips on my laminate floor if I apply anything over and above gentle force to the pedals. Works best on carpeted surface. You need to be on a chair with very upright back like a dining room chair for example (not great from an armchair). The use as upper body exercise is a bit strange but I kind of prefer it, as there isn't much out there in the market in terms of home aerobic kit for the upper body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up, 24 Aug 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Easy to set up. Took 10 minutes from unpacking to full working order and using the hotspot extender at the other end of the flat. Would have taken less time if it weren't for having to rearrange already plugged-in things to an extension plug since the BT extender and hotspot units require to be directly in wall mains (not into electricity socket extensions).

My home is quite long in shape so the main wifi router is close to the phone socket in the lounge which is opposite end of the flat to bedroom and also balcony, so with the extender now having a hotspot at the master bedroom end, there is powerful wifi signal throughout the home, including out on the balcony which is also opposite end of apartment, compared to the lounge. Ideal for taking iPad from lounge to bedroom or balcony.

The main issues to point out, the Ethernet sockets in the BT units face upwards, so when the extender and hotspot are plugged in, the Ethernet cables sticks upwards, which is a bit ugly (would look better if the Ethernet cable was coming out of the base not the top of the plugs). That's a poorly thought out design issue.

Second thing to realise is that the hotspot will have a different signal to the main wifi, which means going from one room to another, most devices will need manual switching in the device wifi link, from main router to hotspot. Not a huge problem, but not smooth. Perhaps some devices or laptops come with automatic connection to strongest signal which would make it smoother. Current apple iOS version doesn't however, so iPad requires going into settings, click wifi and click between main router and extender as required.

There is an option to get the hotspot to clone your main router, the idea being that your devices will automatically connect to the hotspot when in range. I tried this option after I got fed up with having to manually switch between the two, and the iPad works seamlessly by picking up the stronger of the signals as I walk from one end of the flat to the other. Very convenient indeed. Seems to also work well with the other devices.

3.0 out of 5 stars Requires experienced assembly skills, 24 Aug 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I don't know if it's all of them or just mine delivered in a box, but the bike comes half assembled without instructions for how to assemble the rest of it. I checked and apparently there was no more to come with it. So unless you are good at bike maintenance and know how to put in a wheel, mud guard, adjust brakes, put in handlebar column, and fix on the handlebar, make it safe, etc, all before you've even had the chance to test the bikes folding safety too, then you might want to check with whichever supplier you pick to ensure there are full reassembly instructions or that they will deliver it folded but correctly assembled. It took me about two evenings to get it to a state that I felt was safe enough to take it out and ride, and I have some basic experience of bicycle maintenance.

Anyway, I felt it was ok to go for a short ride to the high street and back and the ride itself is fine, if a little stiff, that could be that the brakes are a bit too close to the wheel, so it will probably need readjusting before I go on a longer ride. I have another bike which I'm taking for a quick check up soon so I am actually going to take this folding one to be checked out too to make sure I've assembled it properly.

The gear change is quite smooth, that was one unit (the gear set up) that was pre assembled, and the saddle is a good one. Quite wide and well sprung to absorb the bumps on uneven road or track. The folding pedals are good quality and the parcel shelf at the back is nice and solid.

The front reflector supplied came with the wrong fitting .... So currently it's without one until I get a replacement.

The tires are decent enough, they take up to 65psi which is good.

The good thing about a 20 inch wheel folding bike, is that the replacement parts are easy to come by in most bike shops, especially the larger stores, and not expensive (there is a wide range of choice of makes and suppliers).

It's not too heavy to lift, and when folded up it's easy enough to lug around short distances, but not the type you could easily take on public transport or into your office. The steering column is also not feeling secure as it has a bit of give when I went round a roundabout. I will be using normal bike lock ups when not in use unless it needs to go in the car to take on a day out of the city, or I'm away form home for a while and I can fold it up to bring indoors.

Folding and unfolding is quite quick. It was a little stiff at the hinges at first but I sprayed a bit of furniture polish into the hinges and it's fine now. Folding takes less than a minute with practice; unfolding to ride probably a minute or two.

--- update --- after I had it checked out by a bike repairer, he said my assembly was not great so I spent 25 on it being properly reassembled and the steering and breaks now feel much more secure.

Vax Air Silence Eco Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner
Vax Air Silence Eco Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner
Price: 249.99

4.0 out of 5 stars It is quieter than my older Vax, 24 Aug 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Very quiet for the high power suction, and light. They are the main positives. The cleaning performance on carpet is surprisingly not quite as fast as my older upright Vax but that's probably due to the fact that the older one has one of those high wattages being phased out under EU law. It is very noisy though that upright and it is exhausting to push around and difficult round corners, all things that are much better with the new compact Vax Air Silence.

The pushing around of the telescopic cleaning head needs a bit of getting used to because it relies almost solely on suction (uprights have big roller brushes too) so it gets close to the carpet and you need a bit of practice pushing it around with the suction keeping the main head close to the floor. Not so difficult on hard/smooth floor with the raised stationary brush underneath the head.

The overall result is good, and I also won't need to empty the cylinder as often as the upright because even though the new one is more compact overall, it actually has more dirt holding capacity.

The parts click in nicely and feel secure

As someone else has also mentioned you need to get used to picking it up by the correct handle (the other lifts the lid to the dirt cylinder removal section)

The accessories it comes with are ok, particularly the mini brush as it helps me clean the Venetian blinds when attached to the extended telescopic tube.

Hot Wheels 50 Car Pack

4.0 out of 5 stars Treasures, 23 Aug 2014
This review is from: Hot Wheels 50 Car Pack (Toy)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Nice assortment, tightly packed into the main box, individually in their own packaging. Many of the models are just made up cars or trucks or motorbikes, but there are some replicas of famous marks, I have for example a Bentley and an Audi in my lot. The outer box isn't the same as the one pictured. It's branded the same with pictures as per listing, but it's just a normal cardboard box with flap at the top which opens up. The locking mechanism pictured isn't on mine. Altogether though it is like a collector's mini treasure find.
