5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star course, has no rival at the moment, 22 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Comprehensive. Immersive and the books are a massive bonus too. I have some basic German but after going through the initial courses (1,2) I feel confident enough to go about as a tourist in the less well known parts of Germany and get by with what I've learnt. By the end of course 5, I should be able to have a decent conversational ability. It will be a long haul since I need to learn in my spare time, but as its on my laptop I can dip in on the move, and also you get online resources, so I can access certain things via the tablet too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super efficient, quiet depending on which cleaning head you use, 22 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It is quiet so long as you don't switch on the brushing rotors in the main cleaning head. When you do switch that on (a useful function I should add) you get extra oomph to your carpet cleaning in particular but it is noisy. It starts to feel a bit like a loanmower because it gains a certain amount of its own movement with the brush rotors pulling the head in a forward direction, which then makes it heavy to move around especially in a smallish room. That's the sort of negatives out of the way. But generally unless you use the brush motor and in particular with the lighter standard head that it comes with (together with a couple of other head accessories) it is a very quiet vacuum cleaner indeed. With the motor brush head on, however despite being noisy you get a much more thorough deep clean which I witnessed by the amount of particulates which it sucked into the see through vortex dirt collector. That was after having tried the normal head, so it's worth the cacophony. The base unit is light to pick up and move around if you live in a house rather than a flat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hot Wheels buckaroo, 1 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Easy to assemble, good instructions. But the toy itself has limited fun longevity. The little car with it is probably a little too light because other than the highest launcher setting, it won't even nearly go all the way round the loop. Or that the launcher is a bit flimsy, either way a bit of a curiosity but nothing more.

On the highest setting the hot wheel model does get round the loop (assuming it doesn't hit the swinging pendulum, which is designed to send the Death Star pieces around if you don't time the launch to miss it) but it emerges usually flipped up due to the design of the exit ramp.

For the price I guess it's to be expected, not the best of the hot wheels sets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gentle cleansing, 28 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Effective cleaner with just a spray on kitchen paper towel square or spray over the surface itself and wipe clean with the kitchen paper towel. Not too powerful a scent, so it's not obnoxious to the nose, but enough of a fragrance to know you've cleaned that area. Good at removing greasy marks too. The fact that it is a powerful anti bacterial is a comforting reassurance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast acting, 28 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Very fast results. Does exactly as described. I spray on the affected area, for example shower floor sealant edges, left it for 10 mins. Then rinsed off. There was some immediate whitening. But later I noticed it continued to whiten and by the morning it was all cleared. Strong bleach smell as you would expect, so keep the door closed until you've rinsed it off properly.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit inconsistent, 26 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Easy to set up, instructions are clear and logical. However, the range of distance away from main router from which it gives optimum performance seemed a bit inconsistent. So I plugged it in about 10 metres away in another room and it said it was still too close, but then placed it an further 2 metres away and it was too far, unfortunately there is no plug socket within those two metres, so the best I could achieve was to put an extension plug which stretched a metre away and that gave the optimum blue light at centre top of the LED circle. The best relay performance in terms of download/upload speed was on the 5GHz switch which gave about 38-48Mbps (vs the main router which gives 70-80 Mbps depending on time of day). The 2.4GHz only allowed 12-15 Mbps. Somewhat frustrating then to find out that the printer I use (a 2 year old Epson all in one, wifi with airplay) is not compatible with the 5GHz. The good thing is even on the 5, you do get two wifi signals emitting from the unit, one prefixed with 2 and the other with 5 (on the wifi ssid) and on the 5GHz setting on the extended, I was able to connect the wifi printer to the wifi signal prefixed with 2 and the rest of devices onto the 5. At that point I would have been happy to give it 4 stars, but what dropped it a notch is that unlike the BT Mini Wi-Fi 500 Home Hotspot Power Adapter Kit - (Pack of 2) which I have also previously reviewed, the 1200 unit doesn't give the option of changing the connection name to one that mimics the main router. So, as I get further away from the extended and nearer to the main (faster) router, the devices do not switch between them: you have to manually go into wifi settings and switch. The slightly less speedy Wi-Fi 500 model however has an in-built option on the unit which allows you to get it to replicate the main router, therefore allowing your devices to seamlessly switch from the one signal at one end of the building to the other as you move between them. The seamlessness of the BT Wifi 500 model more than makes up for the 5-10% loss of download speed (compared to the BT 1200) at the end of the flat where the extended sits, considering most of the time spent using online devices is in the room where the main fast router is anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, 25 Jan. 2015
It has been mentioned before that this is a sort of follow on to Sight for Sore Eyes. I'm really glad I found out about that fact because it enhanced my enjoyment of The Vault enormously. Although you can treat each book as a standalone, I definitely feel that the later of the two would give a far lesser experience of the plot and drama without having read (or listened to audiobook) of the older book.

Given that sequence and the enhancement of the stories as a result, I found the Vault fascinating in the style of Columbo when you have a pretty good idea of the crime and most of the perpetrator(s) but you are still intrigued as to how they manage to solve the apparent mystery, with some additional unexpected twists thrown in.

I'm a fan of Wexford series anyway, and I think this is a nice addition.
