Think carefully..., 5 Nov 2012
I bought as I was searching for a good food processor with a dough blade. I also bought it because it was a brand that I trusted. So on to the product:
-Loved the blender even though it was not the primary reason I bought the item. The motor is powerful and made fairly quick work of making smoothies etc.
-I was not a fan of the food processor. For a start it was too fidly to work with. There seemed to be too many components to put together in order to use the item. I only used the main stainless steel blade and the dough blade as I had an epic baking session.
The blades come on a ring and slide to a shaft which then goes into the jug. This was the main problem for me. The blade did not "click" onto the shaft, by this I mean it was not secured onto the shaft. It sort of just slid on so when I was chopping some chocolate, it got below the blade and caused the blade to get dislodged. This meant that I had to stop the processor to poor the chocolate out and start over. After a couple more times I just gave up and used a knife.
Then I thought I would give the dough blade a chance since this was the main reason for my purchasing the item. It was similarly useless. It did not mix the dough well, it seemed to just spin through the dough but not incorporate the flour properly. So in the end I emptied the contents into the bowl and ised my hands for the rest of the process.
Finally when cleaning up I had to disassemble everything. Because of the way the blades are put together whatever you are blending gets on the inside of the blade-ring. When I was trying to clean the inside of the stainless steel blade it was so fidly I cut my finger. It is a safety hazard as far as I am concerned.
If you are looking for a blender then this is the one. If you are looking for a food processor just be aware of what you are getting. I wish I had had a review to read before I made a purchse.
