4.0 out of 5 stars Breath-taking graphics, a few gameplay problems, 21 Oct. 2002
Unreal 2003 carries on from the brilliant Unreal Tournament, improving vastly on the graphics and also adding some great new touches.
Improvements:
- The addition of the "instant action" option on the main menu makes it easy to form a new game with bots on any of the available maps.
- The graphics rival those of Halo on the XBox. Some of the new levels are simply astounding, especially the outdoor arenas which show water and grass etc in great detail.
- The bone crunching sounds when your character falls down a ravine and hits beams on the way down. These sounds are also present when you continue shooting a dead opponent and he/she slides around on the floor.
Downsides:
- Loss of certain game types. Assault has been replaced with Bombing Run which, sadly isn't as good.
- The AI enemy seems to be unable to use the chain gun properly. You will come across someone and wonder why they aren't firing at you. Once you've wasted them you realise that they had the chaingun. It's just a small bug and it'll probably be sorted soon.
- The sniper rifle has gone and been replaced with an inferior Electric gun. This gun takes time to reload after shots and leaves you open to attacks.
- The grav boots have gone too although there is now a double jump ability which is useful.
All in all, this game is good. I wouldn't say it is a massive improvement on its predecessor with regards to gameplay but it is still a very good FPS.
By the way, you will need a very high spec machine to run this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Copper Blue is real music, 27 July 2002
This review is from: Copper Blue (Audio CD)
With all the rubbish out at the moment (Alien Ant Farm, Blink 182 etc) I feel real sympathy for youngsters nowadays. If only they could look beyond that low quality music they could find a gem like this.
Copper Blue was NME's album of 1992, and for good reason. From the outset you can tell that this collection of songs is very special. It starts with the fantastic "The Act We Act" which contains possibly one of the greatest guitar solos ever and continues with some absolutely brilliant tracks. Those worthy of high-lighting include "Helpless", "Fortune Teller", "Man on the Moon" and the mellow, pop-like, "If I Can't Change Your Mind". Bob Mould certainly found his peak with this album and it should be in any indie lover's album collection. Right next to The Breeder's Last Splash.
Probably one of the best collection of songs ever put together....

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely funny, 14 Jun. 2002
This review is from: Stir Crazy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This really is comedy at its best.
Two friends are fired from their jobs in New York and decide to travel across the country to a place with more beaches and beautiful women. On the way they take various jobs until they are framed and found guilty of a bank job.
They are then sentenced to 120 years imprisonment and the fun then starts.
Watch this film if you enjoy a good comedy, it really will make you laugh and the ending will leave you extremely satisfied.

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant mouse, 21 Feb. 2002
The only problem with having this mouse is having to go back to a mormal mouse when I use the uni PCs. It really is a pain after you have got used to all the great features with the Explorer. My favourite setup is having one of the side buttons as "Back" when surfing and the other as "Stop". The mouse is very responsive and I have had it now for 8 months and had no problems at all. I have not been especially delicate with it but perhaps other people have been more brutal.
This mouse really does work anywhere. As I am a lazy person I can have it next to me on my bed whilst I watch a DVD and the mouse works perfectly on the bed sheets. Also, playing FPS games like Unreal Tournament is vastly improved with much better accuracy.
In short I would recommend this mouse to everyone. If you don't want to spend this much there are other optical options and I think they are a very good investment.
