unfortunately not practical enough, 26 Aug 2006
This book looked very promising when I first bought it. Because each chapter covers a fundamental topic in ASP.NET programming, I was sure that I had a valuable book. However as I read it, I realised each chapter is isolated and you don't seem to get the big picture. For instance, web applications, forms, controls, data binding are described in isolated chapters such that you wouldn't be able to build a full web application by following each chapter. It's good for theory, and there are loads of code examples, but examples are somewhat unconnected, and the book doesn't take you on a practical journey by building up chapter by chapter, but rather describe each concept on its own.
