5.0 out of 5 stars One of the all time great soul tracks, 24 Oct 2014
Very interesting pair of albums, but to be honest Track 10 Loving. Arms is worth the purchase price on its own. One of the all time great soul tracks

4.0 out of 5 stars A very solid second part of the trilogy. Quite ..., 2 July 2014

A very solid second part of the trilogy. Quite dark and menacing with graphic touches of horror. I felt that strands of the plot got a bit confused, but that didn't harm Chandler.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great finale, 4 May 2014

I like this trilogy. I felt the plot was a little predictable in places, but the ending postscript lifted this book into being truly memorable.

Not as thick as some organisers so if you want your life history a la 21 dresses this isn't the one you want. It's compact size does make it easy to fit in pockets and bags; great colour

4.0 out of 5 stars Great yarn for when you're tired or ill, 30 Nov 2013
This review is from: Where Eagles Dare (Kindle Edition)
This book is based on the film script of the same author; it is likely that most readers will be familiar with the plot twists and turns.Don't query the odd inacuracy, instead luxuriate in the pace, actions and heroics especially if they are familiar. Best read when concentration not at its best, this is book which is undemanding but still a great read

3.0 out of 5 stars You have to like this to like it, but its not boring, 6 Oct 2013
This review is from: Ragged Kingdom (Audio CD)
If you like this artist then you will probably love it; the talent shines through. if some of the tracks are your favourites then you may not. I thought they murdered ''Dark end of the street'' so that it sounded like shipwrecked shetland fisherman had been stranded with a copy of ''Gilded palace of sin'' and had learnt the song while waiting to be rescued. My friends thought it was brilliant. So all in all a marmite album, but either way a brilliant talent and I think everyone should listen to it before deciding. Not something to be ignored; worth buying to make your own mind up. I suppose that's whats makes a real artist rather than a comercial product

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal Kindle Read, 1 Sep 2013

This is a slight simple story, a hardboiled crime thriller which has two essential ingredients; interesting characters and pace. The author keeps it moving, hence the page turning Kindle reference, so that the odd suspension of reality is carried with aplomb. The three books should be read in order as the characterisation adds depth. The Northern irish perspective also develops through the 3 books, but at the heart these are good old fashioned thrillers which are well worth the money

The sheer joy of music shines through this album; it is a solid album from someone who truly believes in what he does. A bit old fashioned, but if you like Springsteen or Gas light Anthem then you will love this. Crank up the volume and drive

Kylie Auldist presents an interesting collection of songs which have a variety of moods but add up to a great selection of soul music. Northern soul started by listening to obscure artists with great voices and sounds, try this

5.0 out of 5 stars Boston Crime Marmite, 18 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Cogan's Trade (Kindle Edition)
Higgins tales of the Boston underworld are told in the dialogue of the participants. The Brad Pitt film has allowed the rerelease of this simple tragic tale and it stands near (but not quite as good as) The Friends of Eddie Coyle. Some filmgoers and readers may dislike the style as not a lot happens apart from people talking; there is very little descriptive narrative. It is a bit like Marmite; you will think this is a masterpiece or just get bored
