Loved this game until a couple of days ago when an update downloaded. The new version is jerky, cue movement is completely unpredictable. A great game made worse

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 28 Jun. 2014

Read this after reading Philipp Meyers "The Son" which some reviewers had compared to this book. Found the story to be fragmented and the prose difficult. The characterisation was also very shallow.Deeply disappointing after reading Meyers great story, just no comparison.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, 28 Jun. 2014

A wonderful novel which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of those books you read slowly towards the end cos you just don't want it to finish. Other reviewers have compared it to McCarthy's Blood Meridian, supposedly one of his classics, which I read after this. McCarthys work doesn't come anywhere close to the quality of this book. This is a much better story with a better structure and considerably better prose.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Crime Novel, but then . . ., 28 Jun. 2014

Loved this book when I read it. Great story, well structured and written. I thought that it reminded me of William McIlvanney's crime novels, which I hadn't read for some time, so I purchased another one of the Laidlaw series. Once I got into Laidlaw again, I realised that this just doesn't even come anywhere close to the quality of McIlvanney's novels. Still a good read but not a great one.

McIlvanny is a wonderful and charismatic author. His crime novels are full of philosophical thoughts and complexities and far far from the average crime thriller.

Little or no infomation. Very general giving no details at all of Philippine regions or facilities therein. Not worth the download even if it is free.

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely useless, 28 Jun. 2014

No information in this kindle version. I was visiting Pampanga for the first time and wanted a guide. This useless book provided virtually no information at all. Doubt if the author has even been there!

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter rubbish and completely useless, 28 Jun. 2014

I'm a big fan of Lonely Planet but this Kindle version is completely useless. I live in the Philippines in Pampanga and bought this as an aid to other areas of the Philippines I haven't been before and wanted to explore. The authors have obviously done very little research and provide virtually no information compared to the sixteen year old printed Lonely Planet I own, which has 100 times more information in it.

For example, in the area where I live, Angeles City is dismissed as a vice den with reviews of only three of the multitude of high quality hotels available, and two rather mediocre restaurants which are close by. There is no mention whatsoever of the many 4 and 5 star quality restaurants in the Angeles area which provide a vast choice or Asian and European food. Likewise the book states that there are few legitimate activities in this area. Again no mention whatsoever of the Clark International Motor Racing Circuit, the International Hot Air Balloon Festival or the many quality leisure facilities in the Clark area. It is apparent that the author spent very little time here and did absolutely no research whatsoever. Other areas of the Philippines I am very familiar with are described in similar fashion with a complete paucity of information.

This Kindle edition was a complete waste of money and is worse than useless.
