The Templar's Code
The Templar's Code
by C.M. Palov
Edition: Paperback
Price: 5.99

3.0 out of 5 stars A Great Secret Worth Killing For., 23 Oct 2011
This review is from: The Templar's Code (Paperback)
I finished reading this book yesterday after taking me several months to read it.
C.M. Palov the author has tried to write it in the same fashion as Dan Brown's DaVinci Code, but the pace is much slower and at over 500 pages long it was not one of the best books that I have read.
The story is based around the connection between Moses, the Templars and Atlantis. The story puts this together in a good way with suggestions that the Templars took their treasure to the United States of America. It also suggests the three of the founding fathers of the U.S.A. knew of the secret through the Freemasons and hid the treasure some where in the new world.
This story follows Templar expert Caedmon Aisquith and his American companion as they travel to various locations on both sides of the Atlantic with a murderer following their every move as they try to unlock the secrets of the Templar code and unearth the treasure.

Note: This book does contain some languague unsuitable for children!

Sam Neil's Space is a very interesting series of 6 episodes. Written and Explained clearly and interesting to watch.
It was first shown on BBC in 2001 and quite a lot of the information is still upto date by today (2011).
Each episode covers a main subject, such as Black Holes, Is there alien life and are we alone.
I found them all very interseting and I'm sure so would many children who are interseted in the space itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of sand, action and some magic., 19 Jun 2011
There's lots of action in this movie, good special effects and The Sands of Time.
The picture and sound quality on blu-ray is excellent.
The story is good and easy to follow. It is set back in the time when Persia was an empire in its own right, it is based around a King, his brother. The King has two sons and 'adopts' a third son who are the main players in this story.
It is based around the scheming brother of the King of Persia who wants to change the past by using the Sands of Time to change a past event which would have allowed the King's brother to be come the ruler of the land.
Ben Kingsley plays a very good King's brother, standing in the shadow of the King and his sons, scheming to take over as King.
The action is a mixture of Pirates of the Caribbean, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Lord of the Rings.
Watch and enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Modern Western and Black Art., 6 Jun 2011
Well, this is a bit different. Many of the scenes are dark, so there's not a lot of HD picture quality on the Blu-Ray version.
The background music is 'heavy rock' with a bit of banjo twanging every now and again.
The story is a mixture of a revenge western and the dark arts set around the time of the American Civil War, with the main character who can talk to the dead because of the time he spent in the care of a native American tribe.
Jonah Hex is looking for revenge for the man who killed his wife and son and burn down their family home, and gave him a scar on his right cheek.
He is hired by the US government to find the same person who has stolen a 'weapon of mass distruction' who wants to destory a town using large steel balls and a ball with fire. The ball of fire when lands next to the other balls sets off a chain reaction which causes a fire storm which destroys the wooden buildings and kills the people.
At 90 mins long it is long enough for the story to flow at an even pace with plenty of action.

3.0 out of 5 stars There is something in the Fog, 4 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Watched this yesterday evening. It upscales well on my Philips DVD player.
Remember that this was made way back in 1979 and it looks like it was made on a tight budget.
The acting is ok, the story is good, some of the shots look good, some are easy to tell that it was a stage shot. The special effects are pre-CGI, but the fog rolls along very well.
The story is about a small town on the Calafornia coast which is celebrating its 100 year history. A town with a dark past.
As the fog moves about strange things start happening like all the car headlights switch themselves on and the horns sound.
Moving around with the fog are some creatures.....
The background music is played by an orchestra, enhanced in places with an electronic synthesiser.
As there is no blood or gore, this movie has a 15 certificate.
The ending is one of the best bits !

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best movie., 18 April 2011

Watched the movie yesterday. Picture quality as good as every on Blu-Ray. No problem there.
The issue is the action, or rather the lack of it. Its starts off much like the previous movies, a bit of action at the beginning. This time there very little action for most of the movie and a little more at the end.
This time the trio are not at the school and find themselves wandering through the countyside have a few rows on the way.
The movie builds towards the end of part-1, but its not that much of a cliff hanger. Will have to buy part 2 just to see what happens.
Overall it has the same 'dark' look and feel about it as the last 4 movies in this franchies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Freemasons and Black Magic., 13 Mar 2011
I've never read a Sherlock Holmes book, but I have seen many movies and tv shows starring the late Jeremy Brett.
This movie moves at a good pace with excellent background music, and the picture quality is excellent on Blu-Ray.
Robert Downey Jr plays Sherlock very good, without the coldness that Jeremy Brett did but with warmth and a sense of humor and works well with Jude Law's Dr. Watson.
The story is set in the 1890's is centered around a Lord Blackwood who as a FreeMason practices the Dark Arts, he survives his own hanging and returns from the grave to continue his quest for the British Empire to take over the world. As a FreeMason the Blackwood has designs on running the world, including taking back the USA as a British Colony.
During which Sherlock runs up against the FreeMason's and he works out what Blackwood is up to, and getting chased by the police.
Mark Strong plays a very good Lord Blackwood in the entertaining picture.
I have now watched it several times, and enjoy it very much. I strongly recommend buying a copy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Dan Brown Book Turned Into A Movie!, 6 Mar 2011
Like the DaVinci Code, I suggest you read the book first!
This is an excellent sequel to the first movie, if you liked the first then you should like this one.

The story is basically God vs Science.
At Cern, scientists have suceeded in making Anti-Matter, when one is killed and a glass containing Anti-Matter is stolen.
In Rome, the Pope dies and there is the gathering the decide on who will succeed the pope. 4 possible candidates for the position are kidnapped and the vatican seeks the help of Professor Robert Langdon to find the 4 men and the Anti-Matter.
In Rome, Langdon races across the city looking for clues to the location of the 4 kidnapped men and the Anti-Matter, trying to find the route of illumination, a secret sect known as the Illuminati, who want revenge on the Vatican for what happened 400 years ago.
With many twists and turns the story unfolds again as a breath taking pace.
I've now watched this several times and each time I find it a good entertaining movie, just like the book.
The movie upscales well to HD if you have a Upscaling DVD Player of Blu-Ray Player, and the sound is clear and the music again helps the picture along.
I very much recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good book becomes a Good Film., 17 Feb 2011
I would recommend that you read the book first, I did and if you liked it then you will probably like the movie.
The first part of the movie is based in Paris, France. Where a monk working for the opus dei kills the Louvre's chief curator. While the police investigate his murder, they contact Harvard Professor Robert Langdon who is assisted by the late curator's granddaughter, Sophie Neveu. On the run from the police who think Langdon is the suspect, the cross Paris to the home of an English Knight. They leave Paris in a private Jet and land in England, escaping the english police who are waiting for them to land.
Looking for hidden messages and symbols Langdon and Neveu cross London, finally arriving in Scotland where the story reaches its Climax.

A very good entertaining film with excellent background music which sets the pace and the scene.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frozen Laughs., 15 Feb 2011
Well this follows on from Ice Age 2. So does the story line and of course the jokes.
Children will probably enjoy this, but I found it lacking in story and the plot is a bit thin, and I hear that they're making a fourth Ice Age movie. (Is this to compete with Shrek ?).
The main characters are there and have the same actor's voices, but I wonder did they really need to make a 3rd movie.
The story goes like this:-
Ellie is pregnant and Manny is running around like a paniky father-to-be. Diego wants to leave the herd and go off on his own.
Syd is looking for his own family, when breaking some ice in the ground he enters an underground cavern and finds 3 large eggs.
He takes them back to the others where in time they hatch into 3 little Dinosaurs.
Mother Dinosaur comes looking for her children and she grabbs them and Syd and takes them back to the underground world where the Dinosaurs as still very much alive.
The others go on a rescue mission to find Syd and bring him back to their home. On the way the meet another strange character and the boys have fun when they inhale a gas which makes their voices go very high pitched.
Eventually they all return to their Ice Age along with 1 extra.
