5.0 out of 5 stars Their finest moment to date, 17 Oct 2010
This review is from: Everything You Want (MP3 Download)
This is the best album the band have put out so far. Its the most rounded and is great in car music. Why these blokes get almost no air play over here, yet x champion on ice drivel keeps getting pumped onto the airwaves is just a crime.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Death Wish' meets 'Stannah Stairlift', 17 Mar 2010
This review is from: Harry Brown [DVD] (DVD)
Dark, gritty, and in places chilling.
The first half, illustrating the decay of both Harry and his environment is outstanding in every aspect. Michael Caine puts in a fantastic performance, the camerawork and visuals are washed out and grey, and the story environment is built slowly up to its tense peak. The second half, while well acted and shot, is a like a combined 'Stannah stairlift Terminator' info-mercial.
Essentially this is an outstanding thriller which deliberately taps into the dis-affection of most of middle Britain and the right wing press. It is deliberately provocative and in places over the top.... but then that is what it was intended to do.
The 'yob' characters are very accurate and their attitude/knowledge of the system is, unfortunately, alarmingly realistic (I meet these underclass muppets on a regular professional basis)

Great film, if only we could create more like this....

4.0 out of 5 stars Carpenters last decent movie, 15 Oct 2009
This is probably Mr Carpenters last decent film, which is a shame as for about 10 years he was utter gold in the horror genre.
Okay its a bit 80's but is still creepy if watched on a system with good sound. Also the plot is quite thought provoking (there is a God therefore there is an evil too - matter and anti-matter - the church hiding its dark secrets for its own purposes).
Its not outstanding but still manages to be better than most of the hack n slash drivel that is pumped out now (Saw 6 ?!) Its still a great watch over 20 years after its release. If you've seen anything else by John Carpenter from this era you'll enjoy this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 30 Dec 2006
Dont buy this if you use any other download system (ie Napster and co) as the damn thing wont play them.....(this means over 60% of my files wont play on it which renders it rather useless)

The Sony empire therby extracting every last bean from you......... Incidentally there is absoloutely no mention of this incompatability anywhere on the literature that comes with it. sorry but i'm rather miffed.....
