This has to be the work of a true fa as it covers everything that a reader would require. The text is written in a very informative manner without being "preachy", the pics and advertising material is top notch and the lay out is terrific.

This has to be Dave's best effort ever. When you think of the loving care and attention he has put into every track one must sit back and appreciate what a talent he is.
RPM,as usual, have done a lovely job with this reissue and all I can say is that you should have this cd in your collection as it truly jumps out of the speakers under the hand of a true Master.
Bonus tracks are thoughtfully included and the booklet notes are as informative as always from RPM.

This has always been my favourite Carlene album. The material is top notch, the backing from the fantasticRockpile is 5 star and her vocals are sassy, sensitive and alluring.
Why this album has not been reissued in a remastered form amazes me when we all see so much dross reissued with supposed "rare" bonus tracks etc. This is a true candidate for the" full monty" reissue/remaster treatment.

I love it, if you like Carlene, Rockpile or just top quality music go buy the damn thing (price a bit hefty though)

After purchasing the Marcus Hearn History of Hammer Films I just had to get this book as well.

It contains the story of many ladies who graced the screen under the banner of Hammer Films and what interesting stories they are.As in life, not every actress fulfilled her dreams and went onto movie stardom (for lots of different reasons) but not one indicated any bad feeling toward their time at Hammer.
Marcus has assembled a terrific array of pictures (many unseen before) and his text is both informative and entertaining.

A great buy for the Hammer fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Way it should be Done., 7 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the way a history should be written, it covers all the relevant facts, provides interesting bits of info, reproduces lots of rare memorabillia and is easy to read.

It is obvious it has been a labour of love and Marcus Hearn deserves a huge pat on the back for the time and effort he has put into this work which has been so carefully and lovingly compiled.

If you are looking for a book on Hammer films, this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that the Shads were obliged to record cover versions but I really like their original material being instrumental or vocal.

That being said, they do turn out some sterling interpretations of tracks such as "Going Home", "A Whiter Shade of Pale " & "Time is Tight".
On thing I've noticed is that Bruce Welch seems to be mixed well down on this disc ( a surprise as he produced it!!!) and this has happened all through their 80's releases and detracted from that famous sound.

Being a great Aussie fan of the Kurssals I expected a lot more from this band. It just lacked the humour, wit, spark and verve of the lads from Southend.

Sure, the playing is excellent and they ain't no hacks but to me its as if they are going through the motions and don't really have all their heart and soul in what they are doing.

Maybe Will Birch is the missing lyrical link or Graham Douglas the missing musical spark, but I'm sorry lads, you ain't the Kursaals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Shadow Music., 7 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was a really difficult disc to obtain but well worth the effort as it contains some of the Shads best instrumental work and their vocals are as good as anyone going around at the time of release.

The music is varied and arranged in such a way that the listener is always finding things that had been missed on previous playings.

It is a really polished effort and shows just how talented these guys were when there was a lot of dross in the '60s marketplace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shads best album of the 70's., 7 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
With the addition of Australia's John Farrar on guitar (in fact second lead guitar) the mighty Shads produced a terrific album.

Farrar's talent really pushed Hank to new and greater levels and they meshed really well as two talented and sensitive players. The use of various keyboards (again the Farrar influence) fleshed out the traditional Shad's sound and to my ears gave the music a whole new dimension.
If you, like me, are a Shads fan pick this album up (but it ain't cheap), you won't be sorry as it will give your many hours of enjoyment.

This albums quality has not faded over the years. This remastered version comes up beautifully, it is as if the band are playing in your lounge room.

The vocals shine and the instrumental backing is magnificent. I don't think Mac have ever surpassed this effort (but lets face it, it would be very difficult to do any better).

The demos and out takes are interesting but not really essentia, the live disc shows just how good these gals and guys were on the concert stage.

Well worth your hard earned!!!!!!!!!!
