5.0 out of 5 stars Book of the year!!!!, 12 Aug. 2013

It may only be August but this is THE book of 2013 in my opinion.

Absolutely fantastic story that goes along at a rate of knots that mixes reality with imagination.

The main players in this book are Charles Talent Manx (who kidnaps children & takes them to Christmas land where he feeds from their life energy), Victoria McQueen (mother of Wayne, who herself was abducted by Manx aged 12) & an old Rolls-Royce Wraith that Manx uses.

The story follows many different paths & you really need to suspend your beliefs for this one, a completely brilliant & absorbing novel...... buy it!!!

Having read many of SM Reine's books I found this one a little disappointing.

For me 'Cain Chronicles' set the bar really high & this one just doesn't quite live up.

Not a bad story though it certainly has it's moments but I found it just a little disjointed.

Interesting premise & idea (as Sara's books usually are) but sadly this one didn't quite grab me in the way her other works have.

Funny little short story and although this is over quickly it is quite a good tale.

With an ending that I think few people could have predicted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story, 11 Aug. 2013
This review is from: Dolores Claiborne (Kindle Edition)
Dolores Claiborne is not a typical piece of SK work but it is a very good read.

The story of Dolores is told (by her) to three police officers and it covers the entire book.

Very thought provoking & always believable this book really is an eye opener with a very good ending to boot.

I'm amazed that it took me over 20 years to pick up a copy of this book & read it but I'm very glad I have at last because it is a very engaging tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is set up nicely ......, 9 Aug. 2013

Episode 23 is by far the best episode of season four so far & we are in for one hell of a finale.

This episode leaves three tales unfinished & I am growing to hate these guys (in a good way of course!!) as they have an uncanny knack of leaving you counting the days to the next installment.

I'm sure next weeks season finale will leave more questions asked than answered but hey that's what Sean & David do best...

Can't wait for episode 24 but sadly that will then mean another wait till we get on our hands on season 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget the movie..... read the book!!, 8 Aug. 2013

An early story for the pen of one of the greatest horror fiction writers of all time.

The Shining is a dark psychological thriller that really grabs the reader from page 1 and is written in such a way it is almost impossible to put the book down.

Anyone who has seen the movie knows the basic premise of the story but in my opinion to fully appreciate this masterpiece you have to read the book (I didn't like the movie so I am a little biased).

Perfect time to read (or reread in some cases) this with the upcoming release of it's follow up Doctor Sleep (Shining Book 2)

Another cracking short story from Bill Raetz.

Agent Bryce Attewelle of the WEB sets about ridding the world of a sleazy character named Paul Barros and kidnaps his wife to achieve this.

Fast paced, well written with typical Raetz humour this is another addition to a fine collection.

This 'Pulp Fiction' style novels are excellent quick reads that feature a fast paced storyline and great characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb artwork, 1 Aug. 2013

This review is from: The Dark Man (Hardcover)
This isn't a SK novel as some people have pointed about but it is an excellent book with stunning artwork.

It will not be everyone's cup of tea but if you are a King fan (& a completist then this is a must have purchase) you will certainly appreciate the work that has gone into this.

Stephen King said himself back in 2004 that 'Randall Flagg' came to him when he wrote a poem in college called 'The Dark Man' and Flagg went on to be a significant character in 'Eyes of the Dragon', 'The Stand' & of course the outstanding 'Dark Tower' series.

Cemetery Dance (& artist Glenn Chadbourne) have done a stunning job on this and the inside cover of the book has © Stephen King 1969 printed on it which was a good four years before 'Carrie' ............ outstanding

4.0 out of 5 stars Four down, two to go, 30 July 2013

Season 4 continues to unravel with episode 22 as Boricio et al realise just what they are up against.

Difficult to see where this season is going from here but it's good enough to maintain the readers interest.

Although I am enjoying these episodes season 4 as a whole seems slightly weaker than it's three predecessors but having said that it is still better than a lot of the apocalyptic reads you can get.

Hoping the season ends strongly as most Platt/Wright works seem to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good closure, 30 July 2013

The final installment of 'Cain Chronicles' ties up a few loose ends.

Rylie's mother decides to visit sending Rylie into total panic mode, the story is very engaging and very enjoyable (it's almost sad this is the last story).

The writing is first class as always & when I first read Rylie in 'Six Moon Summer' I have to say I didn't really like her a great deal but as the story has developed I have grown to finding myself cheering her on.

Brilliant series well worth a read....
