4.0 out of 5 stars Their best for 30 yrs, 29 Mar. 2014
This review is from: Gravitas (Audio CD)
No there is nothing new here and it doesn't compare to the very best of the early 80's,what it is though is a return to the classic sound of the 80's albeit a softer variant ,but there is also a consistency to the quality of the songs that runs from the start to the albums conclusion with little or no filler whatsoever.
Wetton's vocal range is still huge and he has lost none of his emotive abilities to deliver up tempo rockers alongside laid back ballads.
After so many embarrassingly poor offerings from the likes of Boston and artists and bands who should consider hanging up the mic such as Magnum, this was a pleasure to listen to from start to end, just don't put it on expecting it to be a return to the days of the 1980's and Heat of the moment,oh and steer very clear of the video which was made on a budget of £50

2.0 out of 5 stars Time has no respect for mans vanity, 29 Mar. 2014
Such a shame to hear a once very good vocalist clearly well past his prime, having seen them live over the last few years as well things don't sound any better on stage.
It's a valiant effort but this is clearly almost a struggle to listen to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Time is drawing near, 11 Jan. 2014
This review is from: Life, Love & Hope (Audio CD)
Having listened to the interviews Tom gave before the release,it did fill you with a sense of foreboding, for this is a man who listens to little other music than the music he makes himself and hasn't done for 40 years or so,and this is portrayed as a badge of honor,as if being locked in a room for 8 or 9 years producing work guarantees quality. Its the sound of a man who ran out of ideas decades ago and one who should almost be ashamed to put the "Boston"name to this.If its the end then its a great shame to bow out on such a low,if as is expected it isn't then he needs to produce one mighty epic to wipe away the memory of this and corporate america

5.0 out of 5 stars It all turned out rather good, 15 Oct. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

So some of the stuff here is already in existence, however its not in my existence which stretched to a cd, for those that don't this is a pure joy especially if you have decent hi fi to play it on and you have the ability to get 5.1 etc.
If you have these things then sit back and marvel at what sounds like a new album for a band of today, not a 40 year old revamped record.
The various mixes etc all have something to offer the discerning ear,and in such crisp sound with the emphasis shifting from drum to guitar to bass and vocal
its quite a luxury.
If you have the product in previous releases then fine, although why people write to tell all what a waste of time and money it is why bother, for those of us that didn't have a full on remaster before this is as good a release as anything this year,a luxury indeed, go treat yourself !
