1.0 out of 5 stars Simply awful - DO NOT believe the hype!, 10 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Against all my instincts I once again bought into the hype surrounding a next gen game and it has once again been an expensive mistake. This review is based solely on the multiplayer as I belief that is why most people continue to buy into this franchise.
It is simply awful. Yes it is fast paced, but really that is about it. I don't know what is going on with game designers these days but exo suits and flying through the air seems to be an unstoppable vogue and it sucks. The simplicity, realism and combat atmosphere has completely disappeared, insta-death is back with a vengeance and lag (or lag compensation) is as bad as ever. The perk/pick system is now more complicated than ever with way too many choices and it adds nothing whatsoever to the gameplay. The guns all sound like they have silencers and here seems to be now no difference between say AR and SMG movement as everyone zooms around the maps with superspeed exo boosts and flying jumps. Graphically it is overly colourful and quite poorly defined, and enemies are just black exo-blobs and quite small actually. This is NOT COD. Yes franchises have to move on, but the attraction of COD was it's simplicity. For years there has been a massive outcry from the COD community to get back to basics and every year we get a more "technologically advanced" version which people by and large do not care for. I am now done with it. Save your money until the publishers and developers actually listen.

3.0 out of 5 stars If you were expecting another game of Halo quality, It is not even close., 12 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Destiny (Xbox One) (Video Game)
Video games have been a huge part of my life for the last 8-10 years and it all started with Bungie and Halo. It would be difficult for any game to live up to both the hype and expectation preceding the release of Destiny and as much as I wanted to love it, unfortunately it falls some way short of the mark.
The FPS aspects as you would expect are mostly spot on, but the game really has no soul. If there is a story there then I cant really see it. The voice acting is awful, especially the friendly AI, the enemies have no personality and there is no emotional connection whatsoever. It is pretty cold and disjointed. The actual gameplay falls between a number of stools as it tries to hook in as many genres as it can and does none of them well enough.
Shooter? - repetitive, poorly drawn bullet sponge enemies, usual Bungie trick of re-using the same scenes and combat arenas over and over again.
Looting? - Sort of, but very little of it
RPG? - Sort of, lots of upgrades, but nothing explained in game and you have to research it to be able to know what to do/
RAIDING? - OK if you like that sort of thing it will give some extra value but the RAIDs are really boring.
Multiplayer? - Not bad, but unforgivably only one game type (Domination) unlocked at the start and then only after a few single player missions are complete.
I was going to say it wasn't a bad game, just not that good but honestly I think it actually is a bad game. There are also a number of small but immensely irritating game mechanics which I just do not understand. The first one is you have to keep a button pressed for several seconds to do many things. The screen pops up with "Press X" and you do and nothing happens because you just keep forgetting. Next the fast travel system is ridiculous, with the "orbit" spaceship just hovering for up to a minute at a time while transitioning between locations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent package but still far from "Next Gen", 30 Aug. 2014
This review is from: Metro Redux (PS4) (Video Game)
I ordered this at £25 and for that price it is a good deal for both games. There is plenty of gameplay and good challenge. However even after the makeover dont expect too much. Graphics are much improved but are still not what you would expect from next gen and certainly not of the order of Last of us remastered or Halo Anniversary level of imporovement. The other thing I would say is that the game mechanics and framerates dont seem to be updated as there is stuttering a plenty and panning especially in 2033 is definitely off.
Price seems to have gone up significantly since I ordered so now not such a good buy but if you can get a lower proce then the package as a whole is pretty decent, especially in the current dearth of PS4 games

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good sound and build quality at the price, 21 Aug. 2014

Solid sound and well constructed for the price. Look like they will last longer than the equivalent Sennheisers I have been buying the last 3 years all of which have dies in one ear or had the cables fall apart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent game - Very challenging, 14 Aug. 2014
I am a huge Naughty Dog fan and this latest game from that developer, although for me falling short of the Uncharted experience is still really a very good game. It looks great, has an excellent storyline and very solid gameplay. It is also very challenging, especially on the hardest levels where really there is only one way to play and that is ultra-stealthy as there is virtually no ammo or supplies in many areas. Depending on how much you like that style of gameplay you may find that a bit slow and pedestrian.
The Left Behind add-on is pretty good but is mostly story exposition interspersed with shortish but again challenging action/gameplay sequences. Personally I found it a little boring but still a decent addition.
Multiplayer looks really good as well, but I don't have PS+ so could not indulge. All in all a very good game which if you like stealth play will challenge you and give several playthroughs.
