5.0 out of 5 stars These work, simple as., 4 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased for short duration use with size 43 mountain boots. They pull on easily and are removed equally easily, some effort has to be made to align them properly as you put them on, no big deal. The grip is excellent. They were purchased for short photographic excursions [max 3km] from a 8WD during a traveling holiday, for endurance work I would still use a fully strapped crampon. On sheet ice on a 55 degree exposed rock surface, they delivered good grip and confidence (provided you 'stamp in') on flat and minor inclines you could simply walk as normal. I didn't notice any shifting of the crampon in use and at no time did I need to 'pull' the rubbers up. Unless you are on hard rock /pavement there would be little point taking them off under mixed terrain and icing conditions. A weeks extensive use and there are no signs of wear. These are good.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's light - but that brings compromises., 4 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
You get what you buy! It is light no question, it has a clever spread adjuster on the legs enabling quick fold down. It is so light that the bottom leg sections flex though. With a Canon 5D MkIII and a 24-105 mounted the ball head is on the edge of holding, any more tightening would have risked stripping a thread (IMO) - and for stability sake I set the legs to their widest spread and didn't use the bottom extensions. It got me to Iceland under the baggage limit. I am glad I bought it, but this was bought as a second 'travel light' tripod. I wouldn't recommend this one as a main use tripod. I didn't trust it to protect my camera unsupervised, simply not sufficiently stable with a big SLR on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works, but depends on your definition of traveling 'light', 4 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Most questions appear to be on capacity. This case fits a Canon 5D MkIII with a Canon 24-105 and with the lens hood reversed. You don't need the internal height adjuster fitted but can use it to provide some more external protection by attaching only 1 Velcro pad. If you are using a square Cokin filter holder instead then you'll need to remove the internal padding all together. Just room above the camera to fold in the strap. The external pocket is good for x4 Compact flashes cards plus x2 batteries, beware though, this outer pocket has minimal protection, I have thrown in some bubble wrap around the batteries. The external pocket just about squeezes x2 filters in their cases in the place of the batteries. If you are looking for a minimal, single lens set-up to travel light and are prepared to spread your over-flow items to clothing pockets it does the job. No experience on rain hood effectiveness, easy to deploy though.

Garmin Edge 200 GPS Bike Computer
Garmin Edge 200 GPS Bike Computer
Price: £69.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Would I buy again? Yes, it does what it says on the tin., 8 Oct. 2014
The edge 200 is a gps enabled cycle computer it is not a traditional navigational gps device. Its benefit is primarily to record distance, speed and elevation. Its advantage over a standard wireless cycle computer is that when used with ‘garmin connect’ you can construct routes and compare historic performance like-for-like, with a detailed time-line break down (and the inclusion of elevation).
The control buttons on the edge are easy to locate and push even with gloves on. On screen instruction is pretty clear. Functions depend on your set-up choices but the unit has a useful ‘sense you are moving’ facility to start recording. Battery life is quoted at 14 hours, that feels optimistic, more like 10 (probably depends on ambient temperature? Colder = shorter). Full re-charge is a couple of hours using the supplied mains charge adaptor. No probs holding charge when not in use.
The unit is small and light enough to sit on the cross bar stem without causing distraction or a load issue. The mount which uses beefy rubber bands feels cheap but is surprisingly serviceable and causes no damage. I expect to need to replace the rubber bands at some point! Programming was easy and I find use of ‘garmin connect’ and course set ups along with downloading both intuitive and easy. Whilst riding a memorised route the unit does give you rudimentary directions along with a scrolling performance bar or gives a more detailed rolling summary. The display is small (in line with the overall unit) but serviceable.
It is shower-proof but I can’t vouch for waterproof. Fair weather hobby rider and all that!

4.0 out of 5 stars No disernable difference to the bespoke 'brand' equivalent, 7 Jun. 2014

Not must more to say! I purchased to extend use when away from base, the Comtech batteries appear to have comparable performance and as with other reviewers the charging unit feels a little fragile so I handle with care but it works and the package feels good value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought as a brewing boiler, it's very good!, 6 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review can be taken at two levels, for general hot water provision for catering, or as a boiler for home brewing purposes. The unit is of a sturdy stainless steel construction with good quality high density plastic fittings, the photo is old the design is updated with the side handles also acting as a lid securing closure. The element (2.5Kw not the 3Kw as quoted elsewhere) is fitted with the base and accessed underneath giving the heating vessel a flat internal base with a slight recess to capture mineral deposits making it very easy to clean. With a 25 ltr water volume it heats from 10'C to a rolling boil in 1hr 10 mins (key staging on this is: 10 to 70 = 45 mins; 70 to 90'C +15 mins & 90 to a boil +10 mins). The unit has a genuine 30ltr capacity which gives sufficient head space to safely accommodate a rolling boil with water. The lid fits well with two vents and has a `lug and twist' securing method which is very easy to engage. The tap is robust and positive. It is a sound well-made unit and would be a good catering asset . In comparing the Burco Cygnet to commonly available plastic `bucket and element' brewing boilers I am very pleased. It is eminently cleanable compared to a plastic bucket and the construction will give a much longer useable life. You only get a 1-5 & High thermostat control compared to some of the digital read-outs on other kit but it can be `calibrated' by immersion thermometer and appears very reproducible (example on mine the point of the trailing edge of the 3 = 72, my mash addition temperature & 4 = 80'C, my preferred sparging temperature). I have had no boil over, to the extent I have modified my boil so that for a std 23 ltr batch I now over fill to 25 ltr and boil back. It is a strong rolling boil and is safely accommodated in the cygnet. If there is a minor (buy obvious) negative it is that all that metal probably conducts some heat away slowing things down but then how much insulation does a thin plastic bucket really give anyway? The ease of cleaning and robust construction more than compensates. The one change I have made is to replace the standard tap with a 25mm, threaded in & out, dairy ball joint, also allowing a bazooka internal filter to be fitted, a very easy job. That black stripe up the front looks like a calibrated vision panel, it isn't, but no problem. The walls are uniform and vertical, perfect for a volume indicator, but there isn't one (just the 30ltr max mark), I have got round this by putting calibrated markings on my brewing paddle, which when stood against the inside of the side wall works well.I am pleased with the unit and would buy again.
UPDATE: Have now completed four brews with the Cygnet. Boil is rolling and predictable to the extent I have upped my batch to 25ltr from 23 (but boiling down and making back rather than initially over charging). Cleaning is very easy and quick. No issues with the dairy valve I added or leaking. I remain very pleased with the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent multi-tasking case, 28 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased an older version of these for my old mark1 Kindle some 5 years ago (just replaced) and so this review also constitutes a long term test with extensive travel and transit thrown in. I could not fault the original case for design, fit or durability. The construction of this new case for the smaller framed kindle appears equally good. The case is light enough for hand held use, provides a brilliant 'propped' position for reading at a table or similar and protection when shut is very good. The magnetic catch is easily aligned and has sufficient strength to ensure it does not open inadvertently. I can't find a negative with the product.
Note: I am guessing this was actually designed for the previous kindle model because there are unnecessary side cut outs for buttons that are no longer there, but the cut outs neither detract from the aesthetics of the case, nor from the protection afforded.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job well but not perfectly, 28 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having used for a period I would make this purchase again.
On the plus side the quality of the glass is good and there is no restriction on screen viewing, no significant reflection under direct but oblique lighting and general build quality is good.
On the negative the mount (via the eye piece cover slides) allows some lateral movement of the screen which may (with time cause some rear panel abrasion) and some of the button icons are partially obscured and it does increase the rear bulk of the body - but then you already have a rather chunky 5D and I guess you know intuitively what button does what.
Foot note: I experienced timely supply from this seller, no delays as reported by some.
