2.0 out of 5 stars VERY disappointing, 23 April 2014

Blurb says: "complete coverage" - true; "concise content in manageable chunks" - TOO concise, TOO manageable left me feeling the content was superficial; "simple, immediate presentation style using pictures where possible" - most pictures added nothing and were too simple, some good and useful diagrams. Overall too crowded and not user-friendly. Makes sense to folks who already know it. I will not recommend this to my students, better off with 2 CGP books.

4.0 out of 5 stars All good, 18 April 2014

I was a little wary of buying this, the cheaper option, particularly in the light of some negative reviews.
However, it is fine; the performance cannot be faulted.
Only 4 stars because the battery cover is overly difficult to remove and replace.

I know that sounds like a big claim - but listen to this end-to-end in the dark and be reborn into a better world.
I got the cd. Very hard to describe - VAST and utterly moving, a beautiful experience from petulant sulky introversion to outright euphoric joy.
I particularly like the melodies. It must be hard to write an original tune - how much harder now that this album has bagged another hundred or so.
Here's an opportunity to emotionally immerse yourself in nature and beauty - utterly transcendental.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful, uplifting sound, 21 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Fruits of Nature (Audio CD)
Infectiously happy and loads of fun, this is one of the most cheerful albums I've heard in years. Their sound is markedly melodic, with scoops and loops from classic or obscure bee-bop, soul and jazz tracks. Their discursive, tag-team style of rapping is instantly engaging. The moods range from delightfully silly (Blue Cheese, Kids Of Never-Never Land) to stoically reflective but never preachy (Morals). Highly recommended if you enjoy being alive, having fun or good vibes and beats.

You could easily share this album with your gran or your kids (they'd all love it!). Indeed it would be much easier to praise this album by contrasting it with the dire "gangster-rap" nastiness currently in vogue but that isn't necessary. Fruits Of Nature is a stunning first album by any measure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flawed Treasure, 18 Dec. 2010
A tantalising glimpse into a lost world: this is a collection of far eastern Siberian folk-tales originally dictated in the early twentieth century. Many of the tales are only fragments, few run to more than four pages. The stories are incoherent and seemingly disordered - so they are a delight to read in any order. The occasional, annoying typos detract little from an almost prehistoric --ahistoric-- lost world.
