5.0 out of 5 stars Good fit, does the job, 22 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I decided not to wait for what I consider a slightly overpriced official case from LG/Google, so went with this.

Not much to say about it other than it's a single unit (not like others which come as an inner and an outer). The clear back has a protective film on it on both sides which need to be removed before use. The clear part is, well, clear and shows through the back nicely. I'm sure it'll get scratched up a fair bit after prolonged use but that's the point of course.

The case itself fits snugly but not so tight that you'll break the phone trying to take it off. Not much effort is required to take the phone out which concerned me at first, but actually it's seated quite well so there should be no danger of it falling out like the more flimsy gel-case types.

All the holes are where they should be and line up perfectly, and what's great is that the back keeps the camera recessed - meaning it shouldn't get scratched from rubbing. Buttons aren't compromised either and the phone functions as you'd expect with the case on.

The finish is good, and the rubberised portion is quite smooth.

Definitely a quality purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be very careful with this, 13 Feb. 2013

Seems to work well when connected to Win devices, but I've found that trying to use this with either a Mac or Linux causes the disk to get corrupted.
I'm currently using it with my WD Live and it works fine as long as I either copy data over to it over LAN or directly via USB connect to Windows. Writing from Linux always causes corruption. I've recently bought a new, slightly more expensive enclosure, and have had no problems with it since.

Purchase only if you use a Windows box (and have backups of your data).

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes the pressure off, 13 Feb. 2013

Since using this, the slight camber of the keyboard in the middle has really taken the strain off my wrists. I did have a previous one at my last workplace which had a REALLY noisy spacebar action, but this one seems to be fine.

Typing can be quite clunky (not like a good quality laptop keypad), and if you type fast and use 'shift', you can often find yourself striking another key before the 'shift' has fully released, and end up capitalising the second character (<shift>:w at speed in vim especially, comes out at :W ... I really hate it). I can live with it for the comfort though. Not found a suitable alternative that won't break the bank so far.

Puts together well and feels solid. Moving parts all work smoothly without any sticking.

It's probably the lowest aperture you'd want to go, and I may spring for some higher magnification lenses to attach to it before upgrading. Having said that, with the strongest eye-piece it manages to zoom in to get just 2/3 of the moon in the view - very cool! Large crater edges were clearly visible, along with other surface details. To get more of the moon in view (maybe for photography with an attachment) the smaller magnification lens can be used.

The best thing was managing to get Jupiter in focus and making out the bands formed from the clouds!!! A slight hazing was present but that will mostly be down to atmospheric conditions and optics. Not a negative though, especially if you've never witnessed such a sight without the aid of Google.

I can see myself outgrowing it quite quickly, but with optics upgrades to start for now, I'm sure it'll last me for a little while longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Venom tee, 13 Feb. 2013

Quite a large fit, probably worth getting a size down on what you'd usually get in a UK size unless you like it super loose.

Otherwise, great tee.

Venom tee. Bought the medium as I've read the sizing can be on the slightly large (american) side. Medium fit was like a snug large in UK sizing (I'm of a slightly muscular build, so if you're like me (or just carry some extra weight) and want it quite loose, I'd advise going Large).

Good looking tee. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent equipment, 13 Feb. 2013

The loop at the top is slightly off-center, but once you get to using the attachment it doesn't actually matter; it really is only a slight offset, but there nonetheless.

Otherwise perfectly fine/usable piece of equipment. Worth the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch if you like the dark style, 13 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Granted, the styling is very dark, but that's the point of the style - it's dark. As such, night-time viewing of most of the watch is going to be difficult, but NOT the hands (hour/minute); which is the most important part! The hands are white and, opposed to what many reviewers here have said, the light DOES illuminate them perfectly well. Anyone who says otherwise really needs to get their eye-sight checked.

On the subject of light, no, this watch doesn't have Indi-glo like other G-Shocks (which my previous one had). My hunch is that because Indi-glo is only for the LCD display, and a separate LED is needed to illuminate the hands, Casio just haven't bothered with both (for cost or technical reasons). In any case, unless you really need to operate the timer/stopwatch in the pitch black (maybe you're in Special Forces), the LED is more than sufficient to illuminate the hands as previously mentioned. My advice there would be to buy wholly digital watch, and not a combi.

On the whole, the watch looks very good, is nice and chunky, has numerous functions (various timezones including UTC) that I haven't even attempted to play with yet, and is generally a pleasure to wear. I also suspect that because of the perforations in the strap, where it can be fastened, it'll be a bit less "sweaty" than most other rubber straps when worn for long periods.

If you're a fan of the dark style, this is definitely an excellent choice - especially for the price!
