This review is from: And She Closed Her Eyes (Audio CD)
This is music straight from the stars. '...She Closed Her Eyes' is often genuinely breathtaking, combining poignant, intimate simplicity with a grand vision of remote and shining musical landscapes. Nordenstam's delicate voice whisps over some fabuolus harmonies; the girl clearly has a fine ear for instrumentation, as well as that gorgeous voice. The album's best tracks, 'Crime' and 'Little Star', are almost perfect evokations of loneliness. Yet this is a life-affirming record; ultimately, its purity and clarity shine through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional, 12 May 2004
A double CD of magnificant songs, full of poignant grandeur and stirring melodies. Has there ever been a more magnificent national anthem than that of the Soviet Union, recorded here in all its splendour? This is a record of a lost era and a lost ideology, and somehow it rises above the tragic reality of the Soviet Union. Evoking the glories of Red Sqaure on a frozen winter's day, it sends a shiver down your spine. Abandon your 21st century cynicism: this is a stupendous achievement in choral musicianship. Top marks and long may the Choir continue to sing.
