Absolutely loved it! alan Davis's art is so engaging! I spent hours just looking again and again at the composition of the panels and the uniqueness of each of the characters. The story line was top notch, real page turner stuff.

Hope we get to see just one more collection of Davis's unique family drawn in his inimitable style.

Is it just me or did anyone else note that Kirk and Spok had been on the belt buster pills?

Ok as sequel after sequel takes root, the actors who play the part will find it harder to maintain theri sevelte figures but come on Pine and Quinto! you are both relatively young, this is the second in the series and your belts are struggling to hold in the evidence of good living.

If that was my only issue the film would have been great but unfortunately it wasn't.

The storyline and its attempts to suspend disblief was, 'so all this super tech and only your eyes spot this glaring piece of evidence? ' 'The can now travel where???' 'To take command of a starship you only need to do wha???'

Without spoiling it too much for those who haven't seen it we see an iconic 'villain' make his appearance. At first, concerning the motivation for his appearance in the Star Trek Univierse, the story is almost convincing but then the attempts to throw in a few twists and turns, and hark back to a particular Star Trek original series movie, blows the suspension of disblief right out of warp drive as a longed for certain race of people, sporting a slightly new look turn up on thier home planet, get the stuffing kicked out of them and then just ...disappear from the script without so much as a cat's meow as a race regarding the indignity they have suffered as the premier warrior race! Kirk and Spock vie for who can be most out of character (just repeating aloud to all that you are in control of your emotions and then throwing a major wobbly courtesy of a dubious mindmeld, every time we need some slug fest action in the script, is not convincing!).

Cumberbatch even with an increasingly difficult to accept sequence of events, was the standout actor who kept me wanting to watch and re-engage suspension of disbelief drive.

Not only do Pine and Quinto need to watch the expanding waist line, Abrams, in terms of storyy needs to watch the expanding story twists and focus on the old adage less is more.

Hope that the next film in the Abrams franchise does what the second did in the original Star Trek film Franchise and First contact did for the Next Generation version. Engage the audience and fully suspend disbelief, at least for the couple of hours we are watching it.

I went to see this at the cinema but don't remember it being so ...loud for so much of the film.

The 'new' origin was great, mind you would love to see an origin story which featured a Lara who wasn't the ever suffering wife of the super scientist, waiting at home - Don't Kryptonian women do more than wait at home or answer to the council? - Lara, at least this version, appears to be a woman who has little say in the decision to cast their most precious possesion into space alone, in the sub-conscious belief he, Jor-El, rather than they has some god like gift to bestow on the universe. If she was more proactive in this decision that part of the film would have been near perfect.

Cavill certainly looks the part but unlike the majority of the viewing public I wasn't convinced that this version of Lois Lane played by Amy Adams, had the determination, spirit or courage we have associated with her character over the years in comics. The character Lane has always struck me as a woman you psychologically don't want to lock horns with a woman who is so much more than her looks. Need to choose an actress who can act the part not just look the part, actually she didn't convince me in the looks department either. Don't get me wrong! I do not want Lois Lane supermodel, I want Lois Lane with the facial features that are standout from the rest. Showing my age but to go so far as a Katherine Hepburn type actress, almost unique appearance far from the stereotype and an acting ability that convinces you of their 'superiority' in comparison to other women in any role they take on.

Speaking of which Cavill might look good but a few more acting lessons before Man of Steel 2 to convince us he is worth caring about as Superman.

Looking forward to Man of Steel 2 - the return of the mute button!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too little Iron Man? Beg to differ!, 15 Mar 2014

Didn't see this one on the big screen, so trawled the online reviews to see if it was worth buying on Blu-ray. Lot of comments from disgruntled fans who wanted to see more of Tony in the armour.

I agree the film was very funny in parts but my major gripe was TOO much Iron man! Towards the end of the film I was getting heartily sick of the number of different versions of his armour popping up left right and centre.

The thrill of watching this sort of fantasy is knowing your hero has one or maybe two ways out of a situation but they are going to have to rely on their 'power' courage and intelligence to get out of danger / save the day, not 1960's Batman TV series style have yet another 'handy gizmo in my utility belt' updated to handy suit of armour in secret location A, ...oh and secret location B...and yet another location C.. and another in my back pocket!! ARRGH!

The suspension of belief that might lead me to feel Tony Stark / Iron man is in real danger of losing his life had gone by halfway through the film.

Loved the laughs, missed the drama, got fed up of the armour.

This review is from: The Wolverine [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Liked the film hate the UV copy which doesn't allow you to view it from your TV via an iPad cable link but I supposed it will be another classic of the Betamax vs VHS battle (God I am old!!!) in that ITunes digital copy and UV films. Mind you if both versions don't sort out the price for digital copies (same price for a digital copy as for a hard copy and you? Justify please dear greedy monopolisers!!!).

Liked the opening third of the film but (without spoiling it...too much.. for others who haven't seen it) how many times can someone get shot stabbed who doesn't have a healing factor?? The ending - pre credits- was disappointing. Typical comic book lack of plausible reality e.g. Bad guy years of planning, billions of dollars/ pounds / yen of investment and then in the style of Syndrome from The Incredibles, style 'monologues' instead of getting on with it and all plans count for nothing in the matter of less than 15 minutes once the plan is put into action. Post credit ending /preview of next film was great as it was unexpected that that the link would be to one of the best story arcs in the Xmen / Wolverine comic arcs. Looking forward to (no spoiler) when that film hits the big screen.

Yes it's a big budget film but take a chance producers / director, avoid the cliched comments from virtually every character who graced the screen boy meets girl, boy loses girl, hero loses his way, hero finds his way again, Japanese good guys and bad all about honour, except when it gets in the way of the script! Oh and 'naturally' virtually anyone who is Japanese has humour bypass sewn into their DNA, is a master martial artists or a member of a ninja clan or the Yakuza!!!

The ink cartridges came within a very short time of being ordered. The quality is extremely good (not an awful lot of room for error I suppose in that it either has ink or it doesn't) but I had hoped for them to last a bit longer than they did before the colour started running out. Will order another one but will also check how quickly it eats the ink.

Book came throught the post quite quickly after being ordered and serves the purpose it was intended for which is to help my daughter prepare for her music exam. She likes the book but it was a bit of a mini-mare trying to sort out which book to order as there are many varieties of the texts, of a similar title, from the publishers. Almost sent it back when her music teacher thought it was a different one on first inspection.

4.0 out of 5 stars New design just needs getting used to., 15 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Was quite pleased with the quick turnaround between order and delivery but unlike the previous foam tipped styluses that I have used, you have to be a little more precise with the angle you hold the stylus at to ensure that the screen registers the stroke you are making. Nearest analogy about the difference between the foam tip and new metal tip is comparing the mark you make on a page with a pencil to that of a ball point pen, you just have to hold it a little more upright when you address the surface of the iPad screen. The instrument is doing exactly what it was desigened to do, it just takes a little getting used to!

It is okay but the low ampage means that, a) it charges VERY slowly and b) if you have anything running (e.g. background apps) it will actually charge at a slower rate than it loses charge which means that if you aren't aware of this your iPad can die midway through a programme if you missed the low battery warnings.

Yes it charges, yes it will link to your computer without the annoying message that this cable / device is not recognised as genuine appae product but the low ampage / charge rate is a pain. Bought a genuine apple high ampage charger for the day to day stuff and keep this one as a backup to charge the work's iPad.
