4.0 out of 5 stars It works, 21 Sept. 2011
I had Netgear WG834PN with which I was very happy - and originally recommended by IT techies at work and after five years of solid use replaced it with this because I wanted:

* Better range
* Faster
* More stability / less interference
* Guest logins

Whilst only having one box i.e. without any more hardware and wires to handle the ADSL part of things.

All I can say is that it fulfills these objectives.

Areas of the house that previously had no signal now get two bars (distance 20m and through a stair case, floor and a thick wall).

The previously pretty stable connection is now very stable even for high-bandwidth activities that were previously a bit jerky. (I live in an area with lots of competing Wifi signals.)

I'm not a techie but a little technically minded and managed to get it working fine in about 15 mins.

It's got a lot of other advanced capabilities that I don't understand but for me the product fulfills my requirements.

Advanced Google AdWords
Advanced Google AdWords
by Brad Geddes
Edition: Paperback

2.0 out of 5 stars Thorough but Dull and Dated, 1 April 2011
This book will take you through many of the common features of AdWords but it's dated (e.g. reports have been completely redesigned since the book was written) and it's dull.

It's not for beginners either - you need to have used AdWords for several months before reading this book.

It is missing many new features and it lacks real insights - which are presumably available via Geddes website at additional cost.

However even advanced users will learn a little from it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Little Content + Self promotion but Easy read, 31 Jan. 2011
The book is a teaser for the author's courses - so you end up paying for his publicity. The content could probably have been set out in 25 pages. Recommendations made for software packages etc. seem to be on the basis that the author gets a kick-back from these too. All this damages the credibility of the author and the value of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps with RSI, 30 Jun. 2010
I spend a lot of time on web based applications and editing documents for work. I was getting RSI in my mouse finger and forearm after an especially heavy bought of work. I bought this baby to see if it would help. It replaced a standard Dell laser mouse.

It's a big improvement. It's comfortable and the buttons can be customized resulting in fewer flicks and less movement of my wrist/forearm. I can click to go page down/page up for example without moving my arm at all, it makes surfing and editing much easier, faster and more convenient.

It seems to be helping my RSI after only a couple of days. I would never go back to a standard mouse - highly recommended especially if you're even a twinge from RSI. Otherwise its just an great mouse.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great hardward but poor software, 29 Dec. 2009
This is a great bit of kit but to get the most out of it Windows users should reformat it to NTFS. It's sleek, quiet and fast - backing up about 20 Gb in 30 mins.

However the on-board backup software that comes with it seems poor. You cannot simply backup a C: drive and all its components but only files and directories down from My Documents. It's not worth using the on-board software to backup the registry, email. etc.

So I'm using specialist backup software (Genie Backup Manager) to do the backups for this hardware.

Overall a great bit of hardware let down by the poor on-board backup software.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak, 2 Dec. 2009
This review is from: Smarter Consulting (Paperback)
If you're just starting up this book may offer some assistance but for an experienced consultant it lacks content or any new ideas for business development or anything else.

Korea (Culture Shock)
Korea (Culture Shock)

Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Usefull, 2 Dec. 2009
This review is from: Korea (Culture Shock) (Paperback)
This book helped prepare me for a short business trip to Korea - it was invaluable as a quick hit. The Koreans are wonderful but the culture is still so powerful and strange to Western eyes that nothing is really going to prepare you properly. Never-the-less the less the book definately helped reduce my culture shock. This book made my trip much more manageable - "forewarned is forearmed" as they say.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but dry, 2 Dec. 2009
This is an excellent account of professional services marketing - comprehensive, detailed and thorough. Laurie Young clearly knows what he is talking about.

Implementing the ideas in this book will vastly improve your marketing performance. But the book is probably inappropriate for use by very small companies.

Only four stars because it's a bit dry.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Insider's View, 17 Nov. 2009
Financial Speculation is an insiders view of financial markets and investing.

It explains what is really going on in the markets, why it is so difficult to beat them and how retail investors are fleeced by financial advisors. It will change the way you view any financial report on TV, the internet or in magazines and newspapers.

If you're serious about investing - or have "professionals" do it for you this book is seriously worth reading.

To my mind it's right up there with classics such as The Intelligent Investor and a Random Walk Down Wall Street. Apart from about 20 pages in the middle - which can be skipped - it's also an easy read.
