Smoke and Mirrors (The Acer Sansom Novels Book 3)
Smoke and Mirrors (The Acer Sansom Novels Book 3)
Price: £1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, 10 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of the best mystery/thriller novels I have ever read. Equal to Tom Clancy with its levels of intrigue, action and a carefully hidden sub-plot.
Oliver Tidy has definitely become a member of my favourite author group alongside Clancy and Patterson.
If anyone from the film industry reads this book I would be shocked if they did not at least explore the possibilities of making a movie.
Thank you Oliver for providing such an intensive story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, 7 July 2014

The second book involving DCI StClair is every bit as good as the first.
Ritual and multiple murders used to conceal the true events from the general public. The age old battle between good and evil, with Allie StClair pulled into the mix on the side of good.
Definitely worth a read.

Again Jackson Bentley successfully interweaves several plots into one excellent story. The accuracy of the research into locations, local laws and customs is a great asset, giving credibility to the information as it unfolds.

A good and topical storyline that should hold the attention of those who enjoy a good crime tale, and those who like their stories to have a sports theme.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Lively Read, 15 May 2014

I have given this book a 5* rating for several reasons.
The factual areas e.g. UK police procedures/practices, have been accurately explained.
The storyline has various twists and turns which are introduced in a manner intended to keep a level of mystery and interest for the reader.
The descriptions of the 'action' are sufficient to make events clear to the reader, without the need for unnecessary detail of blood and gore.
A very good read that I will be recommending to my friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, 1 April 2014

This review is from: The Thirteen (Kindle Edition)
This is a very different kind of story from the usual Patterson crime, murder and mystery thrillers of his that I have read. The tale is related as if the narrator is referring to diaries or notes of the time and events which, for me, created a sense of reality rather than fiction.
All in all, a good read.

Note. The number of errors in this book e.g. words apparently omitted, words placed in the wrong order; make me wonder if the printers or publishers use proofreaders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Multiple Plots, 4 Mar. 2014

There are three major criminal enquiries in this book, each on unconnected and each one with its own sub-plots.
A good book. Easy reading and entertaining

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tale to Send a Chill Down the Strongest Back, 4 Jan. 2014

I have read many of Patterson's books, including others in the `Private` series. This surpasses all those I have read so far. The sense of reality about the plot left me wondering, how much is fiction; how much is fact?
An excellent read. One of the finest I have read in many years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Plot, 12 Dec. 2013

As usual this book has multiple story lines, all with variable outcomes. The author hides the final end of all the investigations well, moving seamlessly between plots. A good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Easy Read, 27 Jun. 2013

A fairly good and simple plot with no sudden deviations. The storyline has no real hero, just a man who will do almost anything to save his baby child
