5.0 out of 5 stars Dyeing with Lichens, 18 Mar 2014

This is the most thorough little book I have found on the subject. Not a quick read - still working my way through all the different methods and permutations. A must for the serious natural dyer.

This is photography at its most tender and painterly. Dont be fobbed off with the cheaper version. This is the only one worth buying. The depth and intimacy are heart opening. Really great photography.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Companion Guide to Walking on the South downs, 2 Aug 2012

This small book - a handy pocket size - is a little gem, full of historical snippets, literary allusions and a delightful intimacy with the South Downs which cant be fudged. It made me want to drop everything and take off into the blue. There are good instructions, line maps and photographs to round out the writing. Excellent value for money with 26 walks to enjoy and explore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Merino, 29 Jan 2012

Felting Wool - Assortment B - BrightsThe book comes from the British Wool Marketing Board at a moment when the wool price has risen for farmers to a 25 year high. As a personal producer of quality lustre longwool it is good to see the characterstics of fleece, sheep, uses etc properly set out for comparison and grouped by type. Technical data is included with breed notes and clear photographs of fleece and animals - useful for anyone wanting to use British Wool instead of the everlasting merino and alpaca.
