Sam Beam's further explorations in all good things musical continues with a jump back to the early 70s, with possibly a 'radio friendly' and polished album, but that really is a good thing. Hints of Paul Simon, James Taylor et al with elements of soul, jazz and funk along with their alt.country trademark sound, this really is an upbeat, joyous album, that is both colourful and engaging, with particularly impressive brass and strings.

For fans of Ben and Jason and Urusen to name check just two, this is a lovely melodic album of folk-pop gems, with intelligent arrangements and a vast array of instruments. Trespassers is the stand out, a wistful, gorgeous folk ballad, with subtle orchestration. Vocal harmonies to the fore throughout. Don't miss this one!!!

What can i say about this one. Yes, I've got it late, very late, but having got more into The Stones recently, this is an absolute stone cold masterpiece! And where better to start than the anthem 'Brown Sugar', love those guitar riffs. Lyrically dark but so memorable with that great piano. Wild Horses has to be one of the best ever ballards that Macca never wrote, gorgeous country folk. Ending with the mesmeric 'Moonlight Mile'. Majestic with lush strings by Buckmaster. A truly great album.

Mr White's debut is a cross section of all things great in music; lush strings, rising horns, gospel tinges and some wonderful arranging, guitar work and of course the voice. Many influences to these ears ranging from trippy country soul/R n B/Curtis Mayfield to Madchester/Primal Scream lovelyness! Only seven tracks, but a deep, full and spiritual album.

First time on CD for this superb reissue from '71. Think Bobby Charles meets The Stones via a bit of Hi/Stax records and you are nearly there. A wonderful trippy, dusty fusion of swampy country blues, folk and rock with a bit of Memphis soul, some lush gospel choruses and psychedelia thrown into the mix! Get this and you won't regret it!!! Sounds as fresh as the day it was cut and the 40 page booklet is great to boot!
