Most comprehensive and best text and reference on corporate finance available today., 30 Sept. 2010
This work by the authors, Pike and Neale, is in my humble opinion, is probably the best Corporate Finance textbook for Accountancy and Business Finance students and the most contemporary and practical desktop reference the finance managers, accountants and even general managers, period.
I first used the fourth edition of the same as textbook for self study combined with the part-time course which I took, it helped me pass the final paper of a key professional examination in 2002.
Notably, the third and fourth edition of this work was the key recommended reference textbook for the final professional level "Financial Strategy" paper of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) examinations.
Today, the same textbook (fourth edition) still sits on my office bookshelf for as my key practical reference, which speaks alot for the relevancy and richness of the contents.
I would strongly recommend this latest work by the authors to any Finance and Accountancy students who is aspired and determined to complete their final examinations, this textbook is really the essence of both authors, whom had dedicated their evergreen work "To our wives,Carol and Jean" and perhaps implicitly to the users-readers who would derive benefit with the right investemnt of time and hardwork to read, understand and apply the subject matter.
Student readers and users should note that THE CONTENTS OF THIS BOOK IS BY ITSELF, A SELF-STUDY CORPORATE FINANCE COURSE AT THE INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCE LEVEL. Students should explore and experience first hand how good this book really is by learning and using the illustrative examples and do the "self assessments activities". From my personal experience, this book will help diligent students master the subject well and in the process to pass the examinations.
For the working finance managers and accountants, some chapters as practical reference is well-worth many times the cost of the textbook as "returns on investment."
I felt obliged to write this comments (not a review) to also express my gratitude and congratulate the authors for their continuing great work, now currently in its fifth edition. The continuing run of this finacial book itself from its first edition into the fifth, is already an achievement.
Written with its contents wide-coverage of topics in the most concise and informative from fundamentals of corporate finance to fincial strategy, this book is certainly the best value for money in this category.
