2.0 out of 5 stars Good sander, cannot get replacement sheets, 25 Jun. 2016
The sanding operation is really good, lovely and smooth, and shifts a surprising amount of material.
There is no dust extraction so it will throw dust everywhere.
The 3 velcro sanding sheets that are supplied with it work really well. They have a "deep pile" and they stick to the sander really well.
However it is not possible to obtain the same replacement sander sheets.
Other sheets (Norton Expert, PTX) don't have a "deep pile" on their hook-and-loop backing, so they fall off after 30 seconds.
In addition, after changing the sheets a few times, you'll notice velcro loops coming away from the sander base, and the original sanding sheets no longer stick to the base as well.
So it seems your only recourse is to return the sander for an exchange unit with 3 more sheets.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but verbose and needs tidying up, 16 Mar. 2016

This book is OK as one to get you off the ground on MongoDB. The authors do waffle somewhat, and also refer to chapters that are not there (e.g. "Chapter 10"). Many of the examples are OK, however some of them had me looking for better explanations elsewhere, and some of them contained errors. It feels as though the book was thrown together and rushed through.

Overall, the book is OK, but really needs a good bout of proof-reading and could also do with some better examples to reinforce some of the concepts.

"OTG Troubleshooter" does not indicate presence of Hub. Didn't try rooting the device, decided to return and pursue alternative options.

You may need to edit "control.xml" and change the line
<init version="40">
to
<init version="41">

I think I installed the update before the data - so the "version 40" data was not accepted by the software until I edited control.xml.

So you probably need to install the data before the update.....

I very nearly didn't buy this book on the basis of many reviews here, however I decided to take a punt and have a look.

I was astonished to find that I *really* got on well with this book; much of the philosophy makes perfect sense, the examples are lucid and the explanations are thorough.

Perhaps this book is not for the faint hearted, but as an experienced developer I found this book to be exactly what I was looking for in terms of how to properly use synchronisation and lock-free algorithms.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for understanding the fundamentals, but lacking in some important detail, 8 Jan. 2015

This review is from: Go Snowboard (Flexibound)
This book and DVD were instrumental in me understanding how to turn a snowboard without "leading with the body" - and it was the only way that it would work on a dryslope.

The focus on the footwork, however, instilled a problem for me that took some time to shake off. When pressing down with the toes, it tenses up the legs, causing the bum to stick out and the upper body to awkwardly lean forward. The crack was to not press down with the toes or lift the heel; it was to move the knees forwards and backwards. That allowed the legs to relax, bend, so that the upper body remained upright. When on the toe edge, you should feel pressure on the chins.

The DVD should include a troubleshooting section, so that common problems can be observed - such as opening the shoulder when going from heel to toe edge, makes pushing the front knee forward difficult so hampers the ability to turn. Putting your front hand on your crotch is a good way of fixing that.

I recommend the "Intermediate Riding Program" from Snowboard Addiction as a follow-up to this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set of illustrations - potentially a life saver, 1 Nov. 2010

If you're planning on doing any kind of river running on anything more than an easy Grade 2 then I would suggest you obtain a copy of this book. The drawings are lucid and clearly explain many of the concepts. There are a number of good terms such as "body english" and "zone of funny water" that you will find yourself using.

Best of all is the section called "The Joy of Flood", which I would call indispensible. I found myself swimming on one occasion, heading straight for a tree. I kicked myself off it, just as depicted by the drawing in the book. Having that knowledge in mind probably prevented me from getting into serious trouble.

Every time I opened this guide, I found myself wanting to look at other guidebooks. It sits unused in a box.

Get a copy of Travellers Ibiza & Formentera, 3rd (Travellers Guides) and Rough Guide DIRECTIONS Ibiza & Formentera instead. Together they provide sufficient detail.

4.0 out of 5 stars Welcome back Royksopp!, 28 July 2009

I'd say the good tracks on this are on a par with Röyksopp's Night Out, which is still my favourite Royksopp album; their live performances often being improvements of their studio work.

The opener, "Happy up here" is quite upbeat with nice buzzsaw undertones, a lovely, bright head-nodder. The momentum continues with the explosive awesomeness of "The Girl and the Robot", which, for me, is their best effort on this album. It's slightly let down by the dynamics going into compression, like a badly recorded mixtape.

The next uptempo track is "This must be it", great catchy riffs, great vocals, more instant appeal.

For me, the album is more than worth it for those 3 tracks alone, and I can't wait to see them performed live next month!

"Royksopp forever" and "Silver cruiser" are nice chillout tunes.

"Tricky Tricky" begins with annoying vocals but becomes more interesting as it builds. The bassline is also a bit too repetitive, really needs some remix work.

"It's what I want" is quite good, though it could be better with some vocoder use.

Out of the other tracks, "Vision one", "You dont have a clue" and "True to life" feel quite pedestrian, and "Miss it so much" is rather euro-poppy with helium-assisted vocals.
