5.0 out of 5 stars The Avengers. The complete series four - Blu-ray, 4 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The infamous duet of Emma Peel (Diane Rigg) and John Steed (Patrick McNee) in series four of The Avengers will in my view be forever remembered as the very best from the crime genre of the 1960's decade and possibly well beyond.

The quirkey nature of the series and the clever performances of the two leading characters reinforce that this is a box set to definately own.

The transfer to Blu-ray is magnificent both in terms of visual and audio quality.

I hope that the above review is helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, 18 July 2014

I was expecting this production to be amazing but it is well beyond that, if that is possible.

Peter Gabriel and his accompanying musicians and indeed all his colleagues including technical crew have produced something rather special here. From the very beginning of this master piece one is drawn into the concert through the talented efforts of some rather skilful craftsmanship.

Further words would not be sufficient to give this concert the praise it richly deserves so I will simply say that my favourite song is Peter G's duet with Jennie Abrahamson "Don't Give Up".

Enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mission Impossible, 23 Mar. 2014

Sometimes it does not pay to revisit a childhood favourite and I think this possibly may be the case with this series.

Don't get me wrong it is far from being a turkey or anything like it but for me it has dated which is very understandable given its age.

May be its the sort of series one views on a quite Sunday night with the comforting knowledge that at the end of each episode the IMF Team will have achieved their objectives.

Also the opportunity to even own this iconic TV series could be sufficient to justify the small investment in this impressively packaged box set.

I hope that the above helps potential buyers of this classic series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light & Refreshing, 23 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If one is in the mood for something light and refreshing in the crime genre the Campion series set in the 1930s is perfect. I am amazed it has taken me so long to discover this very underrated series.

The lead character (Albert Campion) played by Peter Davison is intelligent and very witty. His man servant assistant (Brian Glover) is also very entertaining.

It is so hugely refreshing to view a skilfully produced series that has not been dumbed down to the point that it patronises the intelligence of the viewing public.

Sit back and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A History of Scotland Blu-ray Disk set., 14 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having read the book I purchased the Blu-ray disk set and I was not disappointed.

There will always be controversy over the interpretation of history but what Neil Oliver and the researchers have achieved is to provide an account of pertinent events which explains how and why Scotland has developed the way it has.

From a technical perspective the image quality on the blu-ray disk set is breathtaking, indeed stunning especially as the camera flows over the land and water with aerial footage.

Even if one is not especially keen on history I believe there is enough gripping material to keep one keen interested throughout the 10 epsiodes.

A documentary set well worth purchasing. Enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light Entertainment, 26 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This DVD set provides light entertainment and is the perfect tonic if one does not wish for anything too heavy or self indulgent.

While some may consider the series is possibly a little dated I found that the episodes had a unique charm together with providing a glimpse of life in the UK around the 1890s. It is a fun series which does not take itself too seriously. Enjoy

Midsomer Murders Series Fifteen [DVD]

Price: £19.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Midsomer Murders Series Fifteen DVD, 14 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
While the Midsomer Murders series is more than being about just one character, there is no doubt that Neil Dudgeon has demonstrated that he is perfectly suited to the role of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby. The other characters are also highly competent.

Providing the script writers can maintain the high standard of previous series as they do in this set, this iconic series is in safe hands.

Recommendation: Buy the set and sit back and enjoy some highly professional crafts men and women doing what they do best ie providing highly professional entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Man Who Lived at the Ritz DVD, 14 Feb. 2014

This is one of my all time favorite movies which I never tire of.

Set in WW2 Paris and in particular the Ritz Hotel it has all the ingrediants for a quality drama / suspense plot and it delivers in spades.

The script is tight and the cast are perfect for their resective roles.

I thoroughly recommend this DVD. Sit back and enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Casino Royale Blu-ray, 10 Feb. 2014

The movie is reasonably forgettable and corny which makes it the perfect yarn for Sunday afternoon viewing.

Having said that its not a disk I would recommend that you should rush out and buy. Better to hire or borrow off a friend,
