The Way Of Shadows: Book 1 of the Night Angel
The Way Of Shadows: Book 1 of the Night Angel
by Brent Weeks
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Reality in a fantasy world- Page turner, 23 Nov 2009
Imagine a poor kingdom that even the neighbours are not interested in invading, now imagine the slums of this kingdom. Yes this is where the story starts. We are following a small street urchin through the shadows of reality in this world and see how he grows and changes the destiny of the kingdom.

I enjoyed reading this story, will start to the second book right away. If you like stories about magic, assasins, conspiracy, this book is for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars not the best of Mary Balogh, 9 May 2009
This story is very predictable and not very engaging. Also the heroine is not a very sympathetic character, I felt like slapping her more than once.
Try one of the more recent work of Balogh.

3.0 out of 5 stars not close to original triology, 8 May 2009
I enjoyed the Black Magician Triology so much, I was waiting for this book for a long time. Although it is a good read, nowhere close to the triology. The story is very slow and the ending is a bit disappointing. Still if you like Canavan's books, worth to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book of the Twilight Saga, 20 April 2009
I'm writing this review after reading all the books in this series as I could not stop reading to write.

Although I must admit the first book is the best, I still enjoyed the whole saga.

Bella, a teenage girl at 17, who moves to a new school falls in love with a very handsome guy at first sight, Edward, who turns out to be more troubled than an average teenager. Edward and his family are nice vampires living among people. Nice or not falling in love with a wolf turns out to be a little risky for a lamb. The story hence folds into series of troubles trying to keep these two from each other.
Very nice romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good start for a magical series, 20 April 2009
Yelena is a girl who is sentenced to death as she killed a man. She was given a last chance to survive, at least for some time, so she needed to choose between being executed and being the taster for the Commander. You could guess her choise as the name of the book tells us about what happens next; Poison Study.

It is worth to read, not too much magic going on until the end of the book but the story is capturing. Also considering this is the first book of a triology I think the pace was fare.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fisherman's son destiny, 19 April 2008
Asher is a fisherman's son, the youngest of seven brothers who doesn't have anything but whatever left from their brothers, which is virtually nothing. He runs away from his home hoping to earn some money in the city to come back one year later and buy a boat for his dad and himself. There is indeed a lot of money waiting for him along with a big adventure, big power and the destiny of the whole country in his hands.
It is enjoyable read, make you turn the pages. The reason of cutting 1 star is because the story is a little too slow and much less magic happening than I expect to see in this first book. Lets hope it get better for the second one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love, secrets and mystery leads to a good read, 19 April 2008
Susanna is a teacher in Miss Martin's school for Girls and is very pretty for such a life. When she is visiting her former colleague and close friend Frances the wife of Viscount Lucius Marshall, she meets with handsome Peter Edgeworth. Peter falls in love with her and tries to get her affections one way or another. However, there are some barriers between them that Peter doesn't know. Susanna's past holds the truths that are too difficult to avoid indeed.
Nice story, which starts pretty fast, develop into mystery nicely which reveals itself gradually. The reason I don't give 5 stars is because at the end, some of the very well described issues are underestimated and simply avoided. The closure of the issues did not convince me completely. Other than this very nice read, I personally like it better than the first book of this series, Simply Unforgettable.

A Darkness at Sethanon: 3 (Riftwar Saga 3)
A Darkness at Sethanon: 3 (Riftwar Saga 3)
by Raymond E. Feist
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Fantasy book, 2 Feb 2008
It is good overall. I read all the books of this saga without getting bored. However, it is a kind of mixed soup, you have a middle-earth kind world with magic and magicians, there is also alien invasion, also gods, a part of the book is on the outerspace, there is time travel...
To me the writer mixed it all different fantasy elements, so everybody can find a piece they like. Not my favorite

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read, 2 Feb 2008
This review is from: Frederica (Paperback)
Frederica is a very heart warming, romantic story. Although, The Herione has very similar character with Elizabeth in Pride & Prejudice, the book is not as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darcy's thoughts revealed!, 8 Jan 2008
This review is from: Mr Darcy's Diary (Paperback)
Great book to read if you are fun of P&P. Very realistic look at Darcy's side of the story. It is very impressive how much the writer captured from the original book, and put it together in a way that no one can object very much. I enjoyed a lot when I read.
