Nicholas Nickleby
Nicholas Nickleby

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Dickens, 26 Feb. 2014

This review is from: Nicholas Nickleby (Kindle Edition)
That's about all one can say about this book. It's Dickens at his best. There is nothing more one can say about his storyline and his characters. His international fame speaks for itself. Nothing more to add than 'a fantastic read!'

Jazz Sebastian Bach
Jazz Sebastian Bach

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a personal taste, 26 Feb. 2014

This review is from: Jazz Sebastian Bach (Audio CD)
I've admired this record since it first came out. It's original conception as Bach set to a jazz rhythm and sung rather than played by musicians is incredibly novel and it works. Perhaps it's not for the classical purist, but I think it's refreshing and still au temps currant!

I bought this because their was no way to read the kindlde without it in the dark. Now there is the self illuminating kindle. I think all us 'old fashioned' buyers should be given a refund and/or sent a new model of the kindle. or (dare I suggest) a discount on purchasing the new kindle or the kindle fire!)

Dan Brown's attempt to cash in on our interest in his product. Not as good as Da Vinci or Angels and Demons, but almost up to his expected standard.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium series Book 1)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium series Book 1)

4.0 out of 5 stars A refreshingly cold story, 26 Feb. 2014

Set in Sweden it is refreshing to read a story not particularly or intentionally marketed fro British or American tastes. The storyline is a good one and includes sadism, sexual exploitation, greed and even manages to squeeze in a love story. Good all round stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read for anyone looking for realistic answers to religious history., 26 Feb. 2014

This review is from: The Jesus Scroll (Paperback)
I am not particularly religious but this book if a riveting story which I hope relates true events. It is concerned with the existence of a scroll written by Jesus and secreted now somewhere in Russia. It details 'facts' long before Dan Brown got into the scene. I paid quite a few quid for this small paperback which retailed originally at 20p. It says something for the desirability of the content to sensible readers.

The Canterbury Tales (Bantam Classics)

3.0 out of 5 stars This edition is not th4 best way to read Chaucer's classic, 26 Feb. 2014

What can you say? It's a classic however the construction of this edition is a bit weird. You get a splash of English translation and then into to original old English text. By the time you have flicked through that you've forgotten the main plot of the storyline. The book is fine but this edition is NOT recommended.

An educated insight into atheism. At least the man seems to have done a bit of homework. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in atheism

We're talking Neil Diamond here. This man has been internationally acclaimed and is still at it and going strong. Although in my opinion he should have stayed in the sixties and seventies, collected his money and gone into another business. Songwriting or even movies perhaps. But NO, the old man still trundles on on large stages all over the ;place. Good luck to him, but 'retirement' is not a dirty word, Neil!
