This should be shown on prime-time TV! The world needs to see the evidence recorded in this DVD before it's too late, if it's not already. The filming is magnificent and the bravery (or was it foolishness?) of James Balog is inspiring. We saw this at a small local cinema event and then came home and bought the DVD so that we can led it to others. Highly recommended viewing for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and inspiring, 7 April 2015
This review is from: When Faith Gets Shaken (Paperback)
Having read other books by Patrick and having heard him speak I knew this book wouldn't disappoint. It is frank and honest and it was very brave of him to share his vulnerability with the world. As he says our culture, especially in churches is to be 'fine' and put a smile on for everyone, rather than be authentic and admit that sometime life is hard. This book shows us how we don't always have to appear to be coping, we don't have to pretend and actually it's far more help to others to know that they too don't always have to be 'fine'. There are stories from other people included which are inspiring, given their circumstances it is amazing how they coped and came out the other side with their faith often even stronger than before. A great read as well as helpful and inspiring.

This should be compulsory viewing for everyone - the way we live in our culture would be fine if we had 3 planets, but we don't and we need to start taking more care of the earth. This is an inspirational look at the way we manage our rubbish, or the way we aren't managing it mostly. Fascinating to watch, well made and scary too... scary about where we are currently heading that is. But it gives pointers for hope... and some great examples of how it can be done better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly inspirational, 14 Sept. 2014
Highly recommended.
Someone once said if you think you are too small to make a difference then you have never spent the night in the same room as a mosquito. In the same way as it says on the cover if you ever doubt that one person can make a difference to the world then you should read this book. Truly inspirational stories that have made a difference to the lives of so many people.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant book, 19 April 2014

Excellent book, I couldn't put it down. Sad to believe that's the way slaves were treated and at least this story had a happy ending for the author, most didn't and there are still so many slaves in our modern world.

Excellent fun game for all ages! Best played with at least 3 people. Can bring out the worst in some we found, can be quite aggressive for the competitive members of the family

The Trader of Saigon
The Trader of Saigon
Price: £3.99

4.0 out of 5 stars promising first novel, 19 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was soon into this book and the characters and the story line were all promising. Unfortunately I felt it didn't go as deeply into the characters as it could have, they had such depths it could easily have explored them further. Also I found the end disappointing and weak, a bit disjointed too to be honest.
On the whole though it was an interesting read and a promising start to a novelist's career

5.0 out of 5 stars Great summer read - especially if you holiday in Cornwall!, 6 Aug. 2013
This review is from: The Angel Bug (Kindle Edition)
Having read all of this author's previous works I can categorically say that this is by far the best... a contemporary novel set largely in the heart of Cornwall, an area I love and the Eden Project is a particular favourite.

This novel combines science fact and science fiction with huge ethical decisions. This is all worked out using mainly likable characters; people you are interested in enough to want to know what they are thinking as they narrate the story.

A great easy read; nothing too heavy but at the same time definitely no lightweight chick-lit!

Just a Minute HB
Just a Minute HB
by STAFFORD WESS
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and encouraging, 13 April 2013
This review is from: Just a Minute HB (Hardcover)
I was privileged to meet Wess Stafford recently; what an amazing and yet down to earth, approachable and friendly man. I am a Compassion advocate and therefore decided to read this book written by Compassion's CEO.

This book is not only easy to read but easy to understand - it's simple - a child is influenced by the people he or she meets, even just for a minute, so let's make their experience of us a positive one.

Stories give examples of people who are unknown as well as both famous and infamous... it only takes a minute to make a negative impact too! Wess also gives a serious insight into what made him decide to dedicate his life looking out for children.

Totally recommend this book - just ordered Too Small to Ignore and looking forward to reading that next (even though that book came first really)
