An enjoyable read!, 8 Mar 2014
To start, I have to disclose that I know the author, having been taught by him and already had great respect for both his technical ability and him as a person. I found the book to be a very honest account of the personal struggles that the author endured living such a distance from family and cultures that were familiar to him. These experienced helped him to become the person he is today. I feel it was courageous to put such a frank account to paper, but I am glad he did. It provides an 'outsider's' view of life and his experiences in the Karate headquarters. While it was clearly an immense struggle, by the end of it, the author was positive about the overall experience and the friends he had made. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
