Great book, so informative with great history of the poster as an art form and how the people in charge of the various venues, went about getting them designed and eventually making them into a great marketing commodity and a peace of history for the average fan to keep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good people who are this talented, 27 April 2015
This review is from: ABSTRACT HEART (Audio CD)
Superb album and live they do themselves justice as their vocals and band are 'spot on'. Saw them in Birmingham (26th April) and despite struggling to get there from the London previous night's gig, because of the marathon, they had time to chat and sign anything you wanted. Good people who are this talented, deserve to be successful.

5.0 out of 5 stars A story worth telling, 22 Sept. 2013
At last after so many years of hearing about this very modest cricketer, comes his story. The research that went into this must have been exhausting but the brief life of Percy Jeeves is very interesting because he was such a good player as the records suggest and also because like so many others, he died serving his country when he like the rest, had no idea just what he was letting himself in for and how almost impossible the task was. It is sad but it needed telling and is done so extremely well.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is the real thing, 1 Sept. 2013
As far as I am concerned, with the amount of research that must have gone into this book, I cannot agree about the 2nd comment made here. As Foster's life took on a fare bit of fantasy, how can we be so sure that what he wrote was 'The Real Thing'. The insite into the games that were played and how they were played is fascinating. The only reason this is out of print so soon is that the initial copies were all sold quickly and it is not a big production made by a huge publishing house.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent kooky film, 27 May 2013
This review is from: Hope Springs [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
Don't expect loads of laughs and hilarity or even a great storyline but it's a decent film that passes the time and if you like sexy women, Heather Graham has never looked better and Mary Steenburgen (52-53 at the time) looks completely gorgeous.

4.0 out of 5 stars More music please, 10 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great DVD and will tell you so much more than you might ever know about this band of eclectic musicians. The music speaks for itself if you have any of it but where it misses out on 5 stars is that there is virtually no footage of the band in action. This was probably no fault of the makers of this film as a lot of music footage is tied up in a tussle of 'who owns what'. Nice though that the band members interviewed are not full of bitterness and seem to have been very happy to tell the story of the great Love.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Has Everything, 4 Nov. 2012
I bought this book for a tenner in Virgin Records years ago and it is superb. It works as a band history book and also as a reference point for Floyd nerds like me who would like to know where every clip on You Tube comes from and just how many sessions they did for the BBC. You can dip in and out of it rather than have to read it religiously every week but I find I constantly go back to it again and again.Echoes: The Complete History of "Pink Floyd"

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Much, Too Late, 1 Oct. 2011
You get the feeling here that Pink Floyd/E.M.I have missed a trick here mainly because what seems to be on offer has taken so long after the main release in 1973. During that time,a lot of us fans have become so familiar with the original that it makes you think, " If this is so important to release now, it shouldn't have taken 38 years to do so". During that period, I have managed to hear and see various clips and bootleg copies of what is on offer here and rather than have to fork out more money, I am glad I can see that this is a collection of the same songs with a few bits thrown in. The Wembley gig has been widely available for years and my copy sounds great and for only £10 at a records fair. It would have been easier to have made just made a CD of this gig and a few other DVD clips.

3.0 out of 5 stars We Need More, 19 May 2011
This review is from: From The Ashes [DVD] (DVD)
I have a feeling this is the same as a documentary I saw on channel 4 a few years ago. The only other footage we have of this series is the 'Botham's Ashes' VHS and that is around the same length as this. Why the hell haven't the BBC ever released a proper 3-5 disc DVD set of the whole series with each test match looked at in depth just like we had for the 2005 and 2009 Ashes. Even 'Botham's Ashes' missed out plenty of bits like the Australians getting bowled out in the 1st innings at Old Trafford in just over 30 overs. Fancy wasting a great opportunity like this by leaving all that footage to rot in the archives. Typical BBC.

2.0 out of 5 stars Is that it, 5 Dec. 2010
To call this 'Botham's Ashes' would make most people think that the whole series is included rather than just the Headingley test. I remember so much of this series as it was so compelling and the 3rd, 4th and 5th tests were dominated in such a way by Botham that Flintoff's series in 2005 do not even come close to the achievements of 'Beefy'. So much happened in the Edgbaston test in the last hour that it was almost too much to think a second miracle win was on the cards as the game seemed to meander along to an inevitable Australian victory. The 4th test at Old Trafford saw Australia bowled out in about 30 overs which seems hard to fathom. Next year it will be 30 years since this series was played and that would seem a good reason for someone at the BBC to get out the tapes and do a 3 disc special as we had for the 2005 and 2009 series. There are not that many quality cricket dvd's on the market compared to the number of football ones that contain everything a fan could want. If I had the knowledge and the permission, I would gladly sit and edit the hours of footage for free just so the cricket fans of today who were not around in 1981, could see this great series properly.
