5.0 out of 5 stars Pioneering Metal, 25 Sep 2007
This review is from: Sin After Sin (Audio CD)
Sin after Sin has always been one of my favourite JP albums. The production (by Roger Glover) is flawed but the remastering gives it a much needed boost. There is simply not enough bottom end to do real justice to classic tracks such as Dissident Aggressor and Starbreaker. Minor quibbles over I must mention the drumming of session man Simon Phillips who does a fantastic job on this album. Race with the Devil is a nice bonus but the live Jawbreaker seems a little out of place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten Gem, 19 Sep 2007
This review is from: Planets [German Import] (Audio CD)
I remember buying this back in 1981 with the UK sleeve designed by Rodney Matthews. This remastered version is an absolute gem. I really don't know why this band were not internationally acclaimed. The music is very Pink Floyd/Camel/Genesis and every bit as good!

I would say that Mirage improves on the brilliant debut. The songwriting is stronger, the playing a little tighter. Again the remastering is excellent, pulling out lots of detail in the strong production.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best debuts, 18 Sep 2007
This review is from: Camel (Audio CD)
Many of the best prog bands started poorly (Genesis, Yes ...).Camels debut is a classic. This remastered version digs out every detail of an already good production. Every track is class. Latimers guitars slice and soar.

It's an absolute crime that Camel's output is often regarded as second rate when compared with other prog outfits. This album is the equal if not better than Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, ELP.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Superb Remaster, 17 Mar 2007

Yet another supreme remaster from the BOC. Sonically excellent with the added bonus of extra tracks. My favourite track from this album is the haunting balled I Love the Night. It carries real prescence in it's remastered form. The whole CD is a corker. Heartily recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars A triumphant return ?, 16 Mar 2007
This review is from: Angel Of Retribution (Audio CD)
I can't begin to comprehend the amount of positive press this CD gets. Apart from the opener this is metal at it's dumbest. I'm a lifelong Priest fan but after hearing Loch Ness I begin to question my loyalty (and sanity!). This was supposed to be a triumphant return to form but I've had to look elswhere for a Metal fix.

A supreme debut. The vocals are absolutely outstanding. This guy can scream with the best of them including Adams and Halford. Anyone who is tired of modern Maiden should give this a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best BOC Live CD?, 15 Mar 2007

I was always a big fan of SEE but this newly remastered (and longer) version is a must for any fan of the genre. Astronomy contains one of the greatest guitar solo's ever recorded. The whole band are on top notch form on this recording but Buck's guitar work is pure genious.
