Musical ebullience, 8 Oct 2010
This album is to my mind one of the best purchases I have made over the past year or two. It is full of musical joi de vivre reflected my Martin Taylor's love of France and the music of Django. All but three compositions are Martin Taylor originals and there is a distinct Continental flavour with them. There is not a dud track on this album and all involved sounded as if they were really enjoying themselves which, these days, is so refreshing. No heavily celebral atmosphere here but one of joy and indeed the spirit of Django is hovering in the background.
My first aural contact with this album was through a nationally broadcast Jazz programme on the Australian ABC. The track was Double Scotch (#4) and I was hooked.
Do yourself a favour and have a listen to this and I know you will be transported to both the sunny climes of France and the spirit of Django.
