Ed Hardy iPad Brown Pro Case - Love Kills Slowly Design
Ed Hardy iPad Brown Pro Case - Love Kills Slowly Design

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent cover!, 5 April 2011
This is a brilliant cover for the iPad! It feels very classy, looks very stylish and is very functional.

The first thing that you'll notice about this case is the lovely faux leather cover, that feels very good in your hand. Added to this is the rich brown colour that the case is, and it looks very suave. The ed hardy artwork and large signature are embossed very nicely and adds well to the overall feel of the case. When you open the case it is a very nice soft felt material that reassures you that the screen wont be damaged by the case. There are also card holders and an envelope holder, that makes this ideal for those who have replaced their traditional conference folder with the iPad. These are finished with a small, silver embossed ed hardy signature. The way in which the case acts as a stand is also very good, and is sturdy enough for video viewing or typing.

My one (slightly harsh) objection to the case is the rubber lip that holds the iPad in place. When you lift the iPad with your hand too close to the lip your thumb can slip under it. In fairness, I gave the case a good shake over my bed and the iPad didn't move at all, but it doesn't change the fact that you feel panicked for a split second when you lift it the wrong way.

All in all a fantastic case/ cover that only loses out on the fifth star due to the fact that you briefly worry the lip is going to give out when lifted the wrong way (but from my experience it WILL NOT give out)

In the Red: The Diary of a Recovering Shopaholic
In the Red: The Diary of a Recovering Shopaholic
by Alexis Hall
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars A good little read, 19 Mar. 2011
This is a very good book that helps to raise awareness of a very serious issue - but remains an enjoyable easy read.

The book basically follows a year in the life Alexis Hall who has accrued over £30,000 of debt as a result of her compulsive buying. Throughout this year she tries to reduce the level of her debt as much as possible, by cutting back on almost everything that she considers to be a non essential item or purchase.

The book is written in the form of a diary or journal. It is very enjoyable and very easy to read - the sort of book that you can pick up and get straight back into it where you left off. The criticisms that other people have made about her being "not a normal person" due to her higher level of income is somewhat unfair; it is obvious that she is not wealthy, and anyone can become a victim of compulsive buying regardless of income.

In conclusion, it is a very enjoyable read and does well to raise awareness of the issue of compulsive buying, through the author's witty, humorous and easily accessible writing style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product, 19 Mar. 2011
This is an excellent spray that adds an instant shine that also helps to repel dust and dirt.

This product works in a few different ways; you can apply it to a cloth and rub the spray onto the trim/ dashboard with the cloth. For a deeper shine, you can spray it on to the trim/ dash and leave it a few minutes before polishing it off. Or finally, and most impressively, give your engine a good clean (using engine and machine cleaner), rinse, apply vinyl and rubber care liberally and simply close the bonnet. Check back in a couple of hours and you will be astounded with the results!

This is an excellent product that can be used on any trim, mudguards, dash, engine or tyres. It applies an instant and impressive shine and is the best product of its kind that I've used.

4.0 out of 5 stars A toy and a pet, 19 Mar. 2011
I bought this for my niece as a Christmas present and she absolutely loved it. It comes with very clear instructions and before long you'll have your own sea monkeys to watch. This is a very good toy and also offers some excellent educational value - it teaches children many of the lessons and values involved in keeping a pet but without the hassle and maintenance that would come from an animal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall a very funny film, 18 Mar. 2011
This review is from: The Other Guys [DVD] [2011] (DVD)
As has been suggested by the trailer, this film follows the often calamitous and frequently hilarious "other guys" Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. This is a very good comedy and is well worth a watch.

The film begins with a brilliant cameo appearance from Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L Jackson, which introduces the comparatively dull main characters. There are excellent performances all around; from the performances of the leads to excellent supporting roles by Steve Coogan and Eva Mendes - everyone contributes to the film.

The one criticism that I would have is that amongst the many moments that will have you laughing out loud, there are a few awkward jokes that frankly feel forced and completely unfunny. Fortunately for Ferrell, his goofy demeanour and acting style allows him to remain funny when these situations arise; Mark Wahlberg on the other hand looks like the only person laughing at the joke they've just cracked.

I also admire the fact that the film, despite its comedy, attempts to tackle a serious and relevant issue in today's society - that of unscrupulous investors and bankers (a point that is hammered home with some interesting facts at the end credits).

This is a very funny film, with several very funny moments delivered by a series of excellent comedic acting performances. There will be the occasional "funny situation" that has you cringing, but bear with it and you'll be laughing again in no time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hours of brilliance, 17 Mar. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Scrubs Seasons 1-8 [DVD] (DVD)
This is the collection that all scrubs fans will want, all of the episodes from seasons 1-8 in their full form, and a decent amount of bonus content too that should keep you going for weeks at a time - but you'll watch these again and again.

Scrubs is an excellent television show that is well written and well acted, allowing it to uniquely deliver slapstick comedy, witty jokes and heart wrenching emotion: all in one episode. Throughout the show's duration it has tackled a vast array of difficult or challenging issues, and has also developed many likeable central characters and also fringe characters. The affinity that you feel towards the characters of what is primarily a comedy, is very surprising and is a testament to the quality of the show.

Buy this boxset and you won't be disappointed. As any scrubs fan will tell you - series 9 doesn't count as it's essentially a new cast, so buy this boxset and you'll be satisfied with one of the best and most unique shows of our generation. You'll find yourself watching again and again.

Acknowledging Consumption (Material Cultures)

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good collection, 17 Mar. 2011
This is a very good book that offers comprehensive coverage of many of the more important themes within the field of consumption, through the views of leading industry experts.

The book is a collection of chapters from different industry-leading authors that explore the central issues and themes of consumption. Daniel Miller himself is an expert in the field and as such this book delivers the level of quality that you would expect. Each chapter is well written and well referenced, with each one structured around an article(s) in a leading peer reviewed journal. The book as a whole is well organised and feels very logical in its structure. It is also easily accessible due to the distinct chapters - it is quite easy to read one and come back to the book at another time for another.

All things considered, this book is very good though not definitive; and given its size is certainly overpriced. A good read, but consider renting it from a library if you can, unless you're serious about the subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent product, 17 Mar. 2011
This is an excellent product that offers fantastic value for money.

In terms of the "leather look" it is very impressive; it looks and feels just like real leather, and were it not for the product description I could have been easily fooled. There are compartments for your business cards, compartments for envelopes, book marks etc. and three deeper compartments ideal for holding larger pages or stationery and also a central pen holder. My favourite design feature is the way in which the folder holds pads of paper: as opposed to being a ring binder style that requires the customer to buy a specific brand of paper pads to fit, there is instead a slot where the cardboard backing from an A4 pad fits neatly inside, allowing for ease of changing and any (cheap) file pads to be purchased. The fastener for the folder is also very good; combined with the thick, rounded spine, the folder can comfortably hold the equivalent of about five A4 pads of notes etc. and remain tightly shut.

If you're looking for a good value, functional conference folder; look no further.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but quite small, 16 Mar. 2011
I was somewhat disappointed when this toy arrived as it was much smaller than I anticipated - it isn't much bigger than what would be found in a happy meal.

As others have stated, the blanket is liable to going missing and could probably do with having a stitch put into it. All things considered it is a little overpriced given the size and incredibly simple manufacture; although ultimately my nephew was very happy with it and so I can't complain.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tour de force of the many facets of "the consumer", 16 Mar. 2011
An excellent book that studies the many facets of consumer behaviour, and 'types' of consumer, as opposed to merely addressing one typecast consumer.

Gabriel and Lang appear discontent with the fact that many professionals, and society as a whole, like to address consumers as being one and the same (and have been so since the dawn of consumerism as we know it). Instead they opt to explore the different kinds of consumer - chronologically and thematically. They address such issues as the consumer as the chooser; making choices that shape society. As a communicator, who uses items and services to communicate who they are. As well as many other useful, insightful issues in the study of consumerism.

This book is excellently structured, written in an easily accessible way and is well referenced throughout. The material covered is insightful and current. This makes this book a must buy for anyone studying consumerism, or simply someone looking for a frank assessment of how modern companies see consumers, and what they can do about it.

An all round excellent book.
