2.0 out of 5 stars Great product sadly let down by EPG, 16 July 2011
This is a great product delivering great quality pictures, both HD Freeview and Blu Ray Blu-ray discs. The recording feature comes in handy for archiving too. Because it offers so many feature and options it can feel messy and complicated at times though. For example, programmes on the HDD are recorded in DR mode, which can only be converted afterwards into HG (high quality), HX (normal quality), HE (long play), HL (longer play) or HM (extended play) files.

BUT ...

if one of the main things your going to do is use it for is recording TV (HD or other) then you're going to get annoyed and frustrated. The system is spoiled by an awful Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). Showing schedules for seven channels at one time, it's there pushing adverts on its left-hand side, forcing you to view more pages than necessary and view yet more adverts, to get to find the programme you're looking for in order to set up recording. After two weeks it's driving me crazy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value - but not quite class 10, 15 Mar. 2011
Good price, but seems to be little slower than class 10.

I understand that Class 10 rating is supposed to have sustained write speed of 10MB/s or more.
In tests I've done it managed a Read speed of over 11MB/s but the Write speed is only around 8MB/s, so not quite class 10.
(unlike another card I have which gives a write speed of 11MB/s)..

Still good enough for video, etc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good walking GPS but has problems, 27 Nov. 2009
This is a good sized GPS that fits reasonably well into a pocket and a generally good touch screen with a customisable menu.

The touch screen interface works really well, but the screen inteslf can be difficult to see in some lighting conditions. It does not perform as well as the eTrex series colour screens. Having said that - it is not such a big problem that you should not purchase.

If you've read about the device having a Tide Time table - be aware that this only applies to the US. Even if you purchase the European unit, the built-in tide timetable is not for Europe, just for the US coast.

Also if you are using the device for walking and want to have an estimated time of arrival at your destination this does not appear to work with any pre created tracks (e.g. Memory Map, Base map tracks, etc). This may be a bug that is fixed in a later update, but this problem was reported to Garmin early October 2009 and it is still an outstanding issue.

On the whole a good robost device with a easy to use interface.
Just be aware that there are some issues, but hopefully some of these will be fixed by a future software update??
