5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent Bethesda RPG, 28 Dec 2013

This game is MASSIVE!

You can literally spend days just looking around. 2 weeks into playing and I've still not found everything!

Graphically it's pretty special too. The PC version definitely has a graphical edge, but this game still impresses even 2 years after release.

If you like RPG's and want something that is going to last, look no further. Especially at this price

3.0 out of 5 stars good, but flawed, 21 Jun 2013

I'm a big fan of the post apocalyptic genre and was really looking forward to the next game in that field.

Rage sadly disappointed me. Graphically, the game is great. The locations and characters are very well animated and believable. Also the combat system is very fun to play. The weapons are fun to use and the bad guys offer a decent enough challenge.

The downsides slightly out weight the positives however. The driving sections of the game seem totally tagged on as an after thought. Your car is merely a way to get quickly from A to B, even though A isn't that far from B. The maps are really quite small, and you are limited as to where you can drive, having at most 2 "different" routes to the same objective. Also there is very little to see on your driving trips. You never stumble upon an interesting looking building and if you do, there is no point in getting out and exploring, as the building is just eye candy and what be accessible.

Similarly, the racing sections are very limited, with only a handful of tracks that you can run forwards and backwards. They are also PAINFULLY easy to win.

My biggest issue with the game is it's limitations. There is very little to explore and as said earlier, the maps (only 2) are very small. Really this is a normal mission based shooter, but instead of just loading the next fight, watching a cut scene and then getting into the action, you take a very tedious drive from mission to mission. Also levels are re-used! something I find really lazy in a game. And even with reusing levels, the game is over in a heartbeat!

Given that this game was made by Bethesda, I expected so much more from it. If you want a mindless action game, with some decent gun battles, by all means, buy this. It does have it's fun moments. BUT if you want a true post apocalyptic exploration, story driven shooter, get Bethesda's better title, fallout 3.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do, save information. I use it as a memory boost for my THC phone for music. So far I've had no issues with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value, functions well, 21 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For the price, this is a fantastic little tool. It is responsive, the pen is just like any normal pen or pencil and the buttons are well placed and easy to use. With practice, you can draw n screen, just like you would on paper. I've even found myself using it as a mouse for genera tasks, such as web browsing.

My only complaints would be the pressure sensitivity. In order to get a thinker, darker line, you do need to press down quite hard, harder than you would to achieve the same results from a pen or pencil. It's possible this can be adjusted somewhere though, I'll need to investigate.

Another issue for me, and this may just be a personal thing. The nib of the pen is rough, as is the surface of the pad. This gives quite a rough, scratchy feeling as you drag the pen. I've never been a fan of pencil on paper though, a bit like nails on a blackboard to me, so this may not bother most.

The lead that connects it to the computer is also a little short. This however could easily and cheaply be remedied with a USB extension cable.

All in all a great prodect. Well made, sturdy, accurate and responsive. Even with it's small drawbacks, I would definitely recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Functional, but FAR from perfect., 2 Aug 2012

I ordered these buds to replace one missing from my Skull candy earphones. They arrived loose in a plastic envelope that was damaged, so some were missing. The buds themselves are actually too small for my earphones and are not like those pictured, they have a much smaller hole for sound to escape from, meaning they greatly effect the sound quality, causing it to be "tinny". The only good thing to say about them....they stop your earphones falling out of your ear. I wouldn't recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking, funny, gripping and sad in equal measure, 28 April 2011

This review is from: Cloud Atlas (Kindle Edition)
Now, first things first. I am not a big reader of books, primarily because I am extremely fussy about the books I do read. On many occasions I have read one chapter in and given up, so this makes Cloud Atlas something special in my view. With Cloud Atlas i was intrigued from the start and quickly drawn in. I am a fan of Sci-Fi books/stories, so I particularly enjoyed the 'Orison of Sonmi' and 'slooshers crossing'. Don't let this put you off however if you are not a Sci-Fi fan. This book has much to offer fans of many genres, given it's multiple stories, each in different periods of history and future, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. It manages to be funny, gripping, thought provoking and in places, very sad, all in the relatively small space of each of it's stories.

I feel I have to address some of the negative reviews on here also. It seems that many are reading this expecting a hollywood ending, where everything is wrapped up neatly in a flash-back montage at the end. This is a sad reflection on how much the hollywood machine has damaged peoples expectations of what a story should be. This book requires some actual thinking to see between the lines and get the full impact of the story/stories.

Others have also said how they didn't like the way each story is concluded later in the book and how they forgot what had happened previously. Now this may just be me, but I hardly think it's fair to blame a book for your bad memory or lack of attention span. None of the stories are overly complex. Each is well crafted and end at a point that makes it easy to drift effortlessly back into the story when it's second part comes back around.

Ultimately these are all just my opinions and only you can decide if this is a book for you, but I would highly recommend it. The characters are well written, each with their own very individual personalities. The change in tempo and style keeps the book fresh and interesting from start to finish and it will leave you thinking for some time afterwards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great follow up, 14 Feb 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I won't waste time with a wordy drawn out review. I'll keep it simple. New Vegas is a great game and if you enjoyed fallout 3, you'll love this, as it is essentially the same game with new locations, missions and characters. You don't need to have played Fallout 3 to play this however, though you will appreciate little moments in the plot if you have played the previous title.

In short,

Expansive world with hours of exploring to do,
great animation and effects creating an eerie atmosphere,
interesting storyline and characters with some solid voice acting,
nice 50's style setting,
multiple choice plot means near endless combinations of ways to play,
Will steal many hours of your life,

Not as interesting a landscape to explore as fallout 3,
Some bugs that occasionally cause the game to freeze or glitch,
The map could have been a bit larger,
Will steal many hours of your life.

All in all a fantastic addition to the fallout stable. If you like exploration with a healthy dose of action and an interesting story, this is the game for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough, well made and excellent for the price., 10 Nov 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Being a downhill mountain biker, I was looking for something I could use without having to stop riding just to change a track. But it also needed to be pretty tough and stay in place when thrashing over rocks and tree stumps.

This little fella fits the bill perfectly! It is quite widely adjustable (as for the guy who said it slid down his puny arms, they must be some TINY arms!) It goes from 8 inch circumference (smallest) to 14 inch circumference (largest) It's easy to fit, even with one hand, this is assuming you have at least some hand eye coordination and as the ipod slots into a velcro'd pouch at the back it is virtually impossible for the ipod to fall out, short of large explosion/animal attack! The screen is nice and clear allowing you to see what you're doing even at awkward angles.

The only feature that stop this from being perfect is that it isn't waterproof, which would be nice for the rainy days, but not essential i guess.

All in all, a great piece of kit especially at the price, bear in mind, you'd be looking at 20 pound and upwards if you bought an official apple cover.

If it can survive mountain biking, it can survive most things, GET ONE!

Halo 3: Limited Collector's Edition (Xbox 360)
Halo 3: Limited Collector's Edition (Xbox 360)

4.0 out of 5 stars Game 10/10 Packaging 1/10, 24 Nov 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a great game without a doubt, not as long as halo 2 and not quite as epic in feel, but none the less a really good game. The new vehicles are good, the graphics are very smart and the online features will keep you hooked long after you finish the game.

Now if you like halo you are going to buy this game regardless of what I say, hence the short review, but I have a word of warning about this particular edition. I have gone through 2....yes 2!! copies of the collectors edition. The first arrived with a crack through the game disk and second only plays if you polish the disk for 10 minutes and even then its hit and miss. The problem is the cheap plastic spindles that hold the disk in the box, or rather don't hold the disk in the box. If your disk arrives loose I suggest you use an empty cd case to store the game as trying to put it back on the spindle may split the disk, also it will only work it's free and get scratched anyway. I have since managed to get myself a copy of the legendary edition which uses traditional dvd cases. I recommend the legendary if you want a collectors piece that lasts, that is if you can find one that isn't being scalped on ebay for £150. Basically the collectors edition looks great but is highly flawed and may see you returning the game before you've even played it.
