1.0 out of 5 stars USELESS, USELESS, USELESS !!!!!!!, 17 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This has to be one of the most useless, unsuitable things I have ever bought. I did EXACTLY what the very short, vague instructions told me to do.....measured the rice and water ratio exactly and all I ended up with was over cooked sushi rice, loads of excess water and a burnt hand. Complete waste of money and even more so as I have now wasted even more money on expensive sushi rice.

If you want perfect sushi rice DON'T BUY THIS !!!!!

I will be sending it back to Amazon straight away for a refund.

This appears to be a very good, well built halogen oven compared to the ones I have used before. It cooks incredibly quickly and evenly. Comes with a lot of extra accessories which includes an extender ring which comes in very handy. I like the 2 year warranty and the extra bulb (anyone who has had a halogen oven knows the bulbs can stop working quite often) and so far the oven has proved to be an excellent purchase. Delivery was fast and so far I have no complaints.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly beautiful book, 15 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My wife and I have been a fan of Jasmine's work for many years and were lucky enough to purchase one of her limited edition pieces whilst in Orlando a couple of years ago.

We have received this book today and it is even better than expected. The book is wonderful from cover to cover. It's front and back covers are padded (something that is rare these days) and the pages are edged in gold (probably not actual gold but gorgeous all the same).

This is probably the best collection of Jasmine's art that has been released to date. The quality of the printing is excellent and there is also some informative text to accompany the pictures that delve deeper into the mind and talent of Jasmine.

For the price I don't think you could do better, but don't take my word for it, do yourself a favour and order this book before it sells out !!!

WONDERFUL !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let The 'Sheep' Put You Off, 4 May 2012
Ok. First of all Disney's marketing of this film was terrible. The posters were woeful and the trailers made the film look like a cross between Conan and Prince of Persia.

Andrew Stanton has already proved his worth as a director at Pixar with films such as Wall-E and Finding Nemo and again with his story telling talents with Toy Story and A Bug's Life. Here he proves he can direct big, big budget live action movies too.

Don't let all the negative 'sheep' reviews put you off this film. Most of them probably never even saw the film and those that did were probably ignorant to the real facts e.g. Burroughs wrote this story 100 years ago and many directors and story tellers have been borrowing (ripping off) from him ever since. George Lucas and James Cameron are two obvious borrowers with Avatar and the Star Wars trilogies as glaring examples of where they got some of their ideas from.

Admittedly, Disney's plan to not allow any preview screenings to film critics until the very last minute didn't help things along with regard to positive reviews and coupled with the abysmal marketing (Rich Ross actually resigned from Disney based, in part, to John Carter's poor performance) this clearly played a large part in the film's downfall.

Regardless of this I went to see the film with an open mind. I thought it was excellent. Was it as good as Avatar....no, but I wasn't expecting it to be. Was it better than the Star Wars prequels....hell yes ! My main complaint with the film was the simple fact it could have been longer and I hope the Blu Ray will feature some deleted scenes, especially with regard to the end which I thought was a little rushed.

Edgar Rice Burroughs was an amazing story teller. Andrew Stanton is an excellent director and I am expecting this Blu Ray to be equally amazing (as long as Disney can be bothered to spend some time on it......hopefully they will as they will want to recoup some cash to make up for the lack of box office takings).

It is a real shame this film was not a success as the John Carter books could be made into a very special franchise indeed.......alas I don't think that will be happening any time soon :(

Buy the film. Watch it, Watch it again, then go through your old Star Wars films and look at how much Lucas stole....turn it into a drinking game if you like.........you'll be hammered in no time !

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Film and Transfer, 5 Mar 2012

This review is from: Rogue [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Saw this film a couple of years ago so it was only a matter of time before buying on bluray.

A great film with some nice performances from Radha Mitchell and a pre-Avatar Sam Worthington.

This film is not as predictable as a lot of horror/creature feature films and to me is a bit of a hidden gem in a world of over-rated blockbusters from the bigger studios.

The transfer on this bluray is amazing. Some of the shots are worthy of a David Attenborough BBC Nature series.

A great film at a great price with some nice bonus features too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good wheelchair for the price, 19 Aug 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this for my mum. Its a very good wheelchair. Collapses very easily and fits in the boot of a Kia Picanto with the parcel shelf off so that gives you some idea of how small it folds down !

My mum tells me its very comfortable to sit in for long periods and doesn't need an additional cushion.

Overall I would recommend this wheelchair for anyone on a tight budget.

Beware of misleading information given by this company.

They state "The last thing you want when your item breaks down is a cheap refurbished item that is two generations old. If your item breaks and can't be fixed, you will be reimbursed your full item replacement cost". Yet on the key facts PDF document (the small print) they state they may, at their discretion, "Provide a new, rebuilt, or refurbished product of the same or newer model"

They also state that "Reimbursement may be in the form of a cash settlement or a gift card from the merchant from which you bought the insured item." but I was told on the phone the gift card would be from Amazon regardless of where you bought your item from.

Contradictory information here so buyer beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Set Up For The Money, 13 Jun 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was a bit hesitant to purchase this as, at the time of purchasing, there were no reviews I could find on the net for this item. However I thought I would take a chance as I was in dire need of a decent 5.1 surround system with DTS. I have to say, for the money this is a very good system and I am very pleased with it. It was packed very well and very easy to set up with all the speakers and cable colour coded for ease of use.

The system itself is finished in Piano black which on the plus side is very nice to look at but has the disadvantage of being a magnet for dust.

On to the performance. I really only wanted this to play my PS3 through. I had looked at stand alone surround sound systems but they were actually more expensive than this system. It has optical in and plays both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS - however this will not play DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD just to be clear, but will still decode and play regular DTS and Dolby really well. Sound is very good - nice mid range and can be fine tuned via on screen menus. It has a passive sub woofer which is a bonus if you dont have too many plug sockets spare.

Picture wise - this is a very good DVD player with great upscaling (actually better than the PS3 at upscaling). Nice remote control with some glow in the dark buttons !!!!

It has a USB socket on the front which I have heard can take a portable drive up to 250gb.

This system can also play DivX files and photo CD's

This system will be laughed at by 'purists' but if you want a good sounding system with great upscaling capabilities then this is a very good buy. Good choice of inputs enabling you to plug your Sky+, Virgin box, Xbox or PS3 through.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not right, 22 Nov 2007
I find the previous review by "Mr Jim" a bit dodgy to be honest. He seems to review all of Silvascreen's releases as if they are the second coming, and to be frank....they're not !

Firstly, let me make it clear that this album does not include the original recordings by Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer. The selection of tracks chosen have been re-recorded by the City of Prague Philharmonic, and whilst they have made a good attempt, they have just fallen short of the mark. A european orchestra cannot capture and re-create the huge sound that Hans Zimmer is famous for. Zimmer uses a lot more musicians and electronic orchestra elements too and such the sound is a fuller one.

If you already know the original recordings and would like to know what a 'live' european orchestra can do wih it, then have a go and buy this but for the real fans this will be a dissapointment.

To me it seems as if they have recorded the Prague Philharmonic on the first take without any practice. A way to save money on studio time no doubt but it doesn't make for a very pleasing listening experience.

Do yourself a favour and buy the original recordings.
