Arrow season one was a big surprise to me I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it and season 2 takes the excitement and drama of the first season and times it by 10.
The first half of the season focuses on a mysterious blonde woman in a mask a person from The Arrows past and her relationship with not only him but other key cast members plus her association with The League Of Assasins.
The second half focuses on the main villain Deathstroke who's personal vendetta against Team Arrow threatens to destroy not only The Arrow but Oliver to.
Revations threaten to destroy the family and both Felicity and Diggle take centre stage in there own episodes which are brilliant. I couldn't think of a bad episode in this season.
The box set itself is good with brief descriptions of each episode and what disk they are on included on the inside of the case. Special features are spread across the disks which is a little confusing to begin with but at least if your on the wrong disk it tells you which one you need.
In closing the acting is great the action is great and you truly feel for everyone involved. Couldn't recommend this enough and can't wait for season 3 and The Flash tv show especially after the 2 episodes featuring a pre Flash Barry Allen. But it watch it and love it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I Wanted To Love It But It Left Me Wanting, 25 Oct 2014

there is much to say about this show. Some good. Some bad and the Blu Ray release itself is part of the problem.
THE GOOD.
The cast are pretty good. With the exception of Agent Coulson none of these characters had been introduced to the viewing public. Most are pretty well rounded off by the end of the season with story arcs flushing out the things that make them interesting.
Agent May is a true highlight an ice maiden to begin with but you feel the bond between her and Coulson and her begrudgingly taking on a leadership role in the team.
Production. This is a very well put together show with a budget that probably doubles that of other comic book shows. As such the special effects are very impressive and the fight scenes are very well choreographed.
Movie Tie Ins. When it works it works well. The first season really stepped up its game when it tied into The Winter Soldier story line. These are by far the best episodes in the season and the twists and turns they explored during those episodes were surprisingly good.
THE BAD
Vet Episodic. Following the pilot episode which was very good and recieved huge viewing figures the first part of the season felt very by the numbers. One pointless villain after another and nothing really going anywhere. Part of this I think was down to the network constantly extending the season thus creating the writers problems of having to fill out the season and dragging out the overall story ark.

MOVIE TIE INS. Here is the problem with a connected universe. The show has to address the issues raised in the films. What this means is for every Winter Soldier episode you get one like the episode that sort of ties into Thor The Dark World which was to be fair pretty pointless. The shared universe on these occasions restricts what the writers can do. Which is why the second season may be better as it has nothing to tie into.
SEEMINGLY NO DIRECTION. If you watch the whole thing the first half of the season feels completely different from the second half. It feels that when it started the writers really had no idea in which the end of the season was going to go. Which is obvious by all the filler episodes.
BLU RAY BOX SET. The set itself looks very good. The outer sleeve is very sturdy with the embossed shield logo and the fold out inside is well designed if not a little bulky. The problem however is there is no description telling you on which disks the specific special features are which lead to me trying all five disks trying to find the comic con feature I was looking for. Also there is no episode guide included and when you have 22 episodes and you want to watch one in particular its useful to know which disk its on.

So there it is. As a completist I needed to own this. I think the set is a little pricey and the features limited and not layed out well. The presentation is good and the average of good to bad episodes is about 50/50 with 4 episodes maybe being considered exceptional. Don't expect to see the Avengers but you do get some Nick Fury and Maria Hill from time to time.
Hopefully this review may help those sat on the fence about buying it to make a decision. I wanted to love but it left me wanting more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another level, 29 Mar 2014

Having seen the movie yesterday it's got to be said in my opinion this is arguable the best movie marvel have made so far only the avengers tops it. Set in real time roughly two years after the events of new York the movie sees captain america getting to grips with the modern world. When he suspects all is not as it seems with the shield the world he lives in seems even further away from what he is used to. A blast from the past shakes him to the core and the revelations of this will alter all future marvel studios movies plus make you take another look at what's happened in the previous ones. I would say to get the best from this movie a little research is needed it is worth watching captain america the first avenger and avengers first as there are many things that tie up. In closing an amazing film would recommend it to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome The Surprise Hit Of 2013, 13 Jan 2014
Had heard of Pacific rim when it was released at the cinema but wasn't really that keen on the idea. However having received this as a Christmas present I am now kicking myself for not seeing it on the big screen. Giant robots battling giant alien monsters and destroying everything in there path what could be simpler. The special effects are amazing the acting is pretty top notch with idris alba stealing it for me. The soundtrack is also great. In closing I highly recommend this movie. It's a fun two hours and if your not pumped up when Gypsy Danger is dropped off to battle near Tokyo the alba`s apacopalpse speech will do it for sure.

Simply the easiest review I have ever done. Totally billiant Karl is a complete legend the funniest man on t.v. The blu ray quality is amazing and the replay value is beyond reproach. I have watched this over and over again and still not bored. Both seasons are really really good and the extras are funny as hell. If you have not seen Karl in action buy it now you wont regret it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I would love to love it, 25 Nov 2012

This review is from: Blade Trinity [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I really enjoyed Blade and Blade 2. I was looking forward to this movie and then I saw it. To be honest Blade Trinity is not a bad movie. To be honest there are parts of this movie that are really good. The special effects are better in this then in the prievious two movies the fight scenes are better and for me so is the soundtrack. So why 3 stars I here you say well the answer is everything other then what I mentioned.
The background for this movie is behind the scenes Snipes was not happy about having to give up his screen time to the night stalkers. When it was released and pretty much panned by even the biggest fan of the franchise he seemed to blame the hole thing on pretty much everyone else.
This is the last of the trilogy and as such suffers from what happens to many third instalments too much gets crammed in to actually keep an eye on. The plot sees Blade set up by the vampires and filmed killing a human. When this happen the F.B.I and just about the entire police department it would seem set out to capture Blade killing his longtime friend Whistler in the process. We then see Blade certified insane and then just as he is about to be handed over to the very vampires who framed him. He is freed by the night stalkers Hannibal King and Abigail Whistler yes thats right Whislter had a daughter he never even told Blade about. At this point its still pretty good but from here the little things start to weigh the movie down. You see really the vampires have been looking for and have now dug up Dracula himself in an attempt to kill Blade and take over the world. Leading to the final battle between good and evil. So what is the problem ?.
The film is miss match to say the least. For some reason Blade is now miserable where as the odd joke were present before not anymore he growls and snarls like Christian Bale's Batman. My theory is that the humour was handed over to Ryan Reynolds who as King is brilliant. I think he is much better suited to this then he was in green lantern. He is probably the highlight of the movie. Jessica Biel is good as the new Whistler and as said the effects are good. Its just not the same it suffers from Star Trek syndrome. We have a new vampire silver garlic sunlight nothing works what shall we do. Simple invent something else and that is the real problem. Its as if they decide to just make it up. They had pretty high hopes for this and there were thoughts of a nightstalkers movie an ending was shot to tie into it but that never happened not surprisingly. I really like Blade and hope this will not be the end. With the franchise now passing back to Marvel in a few years Blade may well be back stalking the streets at least I hope so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Sequel, 28 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Blade II [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Blade 2 picks up quickly following the events of the first film. The plot for the second movie is as sequel's go. Bigger, Louder and Faster. Snipes is back as Blade but this time there is another threat on the streets the reaper strain of vampire hunts both vampire and human and its only weakness is sunlight. As a result the vampires offer Blade a truce and he joins with The Blood Pack (a group of vampires trained to hunt him) in an attempt to stop the menace.
The premise here is good with the hero joining forces with his enemies to take care of a bigger problem and waiting for them to ultimately betray him. The special effects here are better then in the first movie though there are a couple of shots that don't shine by today's standards. There are also a few plot holes. Whistler who we all assumed killed himself in the first film is now back after being turned then cured. The second is The Blood Pack itself they simply are not a threat to Blade. No one would believe that any of these vampires could take Blade on let alone actually kill him.
In closing Blade 2 is every bit as good as the first there are a few problems but its easily overlooked. Snipes is good as ever as Blade and former Bros member plays the part of the main villian in the piece. Well worth the two hours and the special features are pretty good to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Mighty Marvel Movie, 27 Oct 2012
Thor is probably the only Marvel film in the Avengers masterplan that I wasn't too fussed about seeing. The reason for this is I was simply not a Thor fan. A Viking god with a hammer didn't really do it for me. But as I had seen the rest I took a chance on it and I'm glad I did.
Thor tells the tale of a cocky woodbe king who is banished from his kingdom and stripped of his powers by his father and sent to Earth. Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth who had a small role in the last Star Trek movie and I was fairly impressed with his portrayal as the fallen god of thunder. Natalie Portman provides the female lead and Thor villianous brother Loki is played by Tom Hiddleston. Loki is a much better bad guy in the Avengers but it is in Thor that we see the reason for his actions.
And so the story revolves about Thor learning his lessons and eventually regaining his powers and winning the day. It all seems pretty straight forward but its the way the film is made the beauty of Asgard the difference in language between Portman and her friends and Thor with his old English. Visually the movie is stunning not only in the battle scenes but in general the film is just brillianlty shot.
In closing Thor is a really good comic book movie I don't know if this has the same replay value as Iron Man or Captain America but its damn good.

Underworld 2 - Evolution [Blu-ray]
Underworld 2 - Evolution [Blu-ray]
Dvd ~ Kate Beckinsale
Price: £5.71

3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as the first, 27 Oct 2012
The follow up to Underworld. Sees Selene and Michael on the run from the vampire new boss who is trying to free his brother the original lycan. With the cast established in the first movie this one moves faster then the original. The budget and effects in the this one is bigger and it shows. All in all this would not be the perfect place to start for someone unfamiliar with the franchise. The problem with Underworld is they never seem to know what they are doing with it. The first two movies follow eachother but then the third is a preqeul. Then years later they make a new movie which is extremly good. But there is no order to the chaos and as such the story gets lost somewhere.
In closing Underworld Evolution is a good film but would only reccomend to a fan of this genre. Blade was a good movie and Blade 2 expanded on everything that was good and added more greatness. This is not the case with Underworld because at the end of Evolution it doesn't seem to take you anywhere.

Underworld [Blu-ray]
Underworld [Blu-ray]
Dvd ~ Kate Beckinsale
Price: £6.01

4.0 out of 5 stars Vampires vs Werewolves Who Could Ask For More ?, 27 Oct 2012
This review is from: Underworld [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Underworld is the story of the war between Vampires and Werwolves or Lycans as they are known and the 1 human that seems to be wanted by both.
The lead vampire Selene a Death Dealer trained to kill Lycans is as deadly as she is beautiful and her mission is ti destroy the lycans and the leader Lucian. As the tale progresses we learn that the version of the origin of the war between the two species may not be as cut and dried as it seems and as we go along one man seems to make the difference. Michael is bitten by Lycan and vampire and becomes a hybrid of both.
The effects in the movie are pretty good and while it lacks some of its features it had a very Blade feel to it. The fight scenes feel like Blade. But underworld deals more with the vampire's top dogs. It is worth remembering that this is the start of a franchise and it will not be foe everyone.
In closing Underworld is a good little movie there is not a huge budget and you can see it. The cast is good the script is good and all in all there are much worse vampire and werwolf movies out there.
