This review is from: Ring (Kindle Edition)
Having seen both the original "ringu" movie long before it's trashy remake, I was keen to read the source material.
While most of essential plot was unchanged in the movie, the novel still has the power to rivet and surprise. In the novel the way to "beat" the curse makes more sense in the context of earlier plot developments. Sadako comes across as a more sympathetic, tragic character while the main character comes across as whiny and self centered. His final solution to saving his wife and child comes at a terrible cost to all humanity, yet he chooses it without barely a second thought. Still chilling and relevant.

Kings best work since "cell". Gripping and tense but heartfelt and honest. As long as his books pack this much wallop I'll always be a constant reader.

Star Trek The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation Vol. 1

5.0 out of 5 stars When worlds collide., 5 May 2013

I was very sceptical of the concept at first, but this is a rip-roaring read. Characterisation leaps off the page complemented by crisp artwork with nostalgic likenesses of classic and contemporary trek and doctor who characters. Highly recommended for fans of either saga.

After a few quieter books the advancing storm hits with horrifying consequences. Not since the governors attack on the prison has there been so many casualties.

The community starts to unravel and the walking dead saga begins to become more complex and the waters of right and wrong become ever more muddied.

The Walking Dead, Vol. 12: Life Among Them

5.0 out of 5 stars Losing the peace?, 4 Feb. 2013

As the action move
s to Washington dc the whole emphasis of the series changes as the survivors struggle to come to terms with peace instead of survival. A bold move as Rick becomes less heroic and more a troubled loner unable to come to terms with what they had originally hoped for.

The pace is breakneck and compulsive. Controls are tight and well implemented and missions can be attempted with varying strategies depending on your equipment choices. Some cash will have to be spent (less than a pound) to really start opening up your weapon choices but seeing as though the app is free you can't really complain. Best game of its genre on kindle.

Kings black humour and razor sharp storytelling shine through making this a compulsive page turner that will have you reading well into the early hours. America's greatest living novelist delivers yet again.
