5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC SECOND ALBUM, 12 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Time I (Cd+dvd) (Audio CD)
I've listened to this album today and it really is amazing, clearly an awful lot of passion has gone into creating this music, the music isn't as heavy as the material on their previous album but it's far better musically as it incorporates orchestral elements, it's more melodic and folkish generally but still has its' heavy moments. The final track "time" is by far the best and most expansive. It's not conventional by any means with the second and last track lasting over 10 minutes but if you're a lover of good music generally that's hardly an issue. Some reviewers have stated they didn't take to this release straight away but I instantly loved it, there are some similarities with their first album, the longer tracks were more experimental but on the whole this is definitely more adventourous. If you enjoyed the debut you should definitely listen to this!

5.0 out of 5 stars pretty earrings at fantastic price!, 9 Nov 2012

These crystal drop earrings are great for the price! I bought these as a present for my mother in law and have bought a few pairs for myself as the crystals are available in a variety of colours and the ear hooks are real silver. If you like to wear this style of earring but don't want to be too flashy then these are probably ideal for you. They are quite small and are fine for everyday wear and also make a great gift for a relative or friend if you want to stick to a budget. I believe the same company also sells matching neckalaces so these could be bought as part of a gift set.

5.0 out of 5 stars great film in my opinion, 8 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Despite all the negative reviews this movie has recieved since its' cinema release earlier this year this is essentially a very good film. It is not simply a remake of "Alien" as some have dubbed it. For one thing, the story is very different as it revolves around a team of scientists on a mission to try to discover the origins of the human race, believing it may have extra-terrestrial origins when similar depictions of giant humanoid beings amongst the peoples of ancient civilizations are discovered. The giants are dubbed "engineers", the team set out on a mission to a planet in another solar system to discover more about these elusive figures and what possible role they may have had in our own creation. The planet they set down on is not the same as the one explored by the crew of the Nostramo in "Alien" though the first impressions are that the planet is uninhabited. A structure is discovered containing a dead engineer and hundreds of mysterious jars that contain a form of organic life, the design admittedly is vaguely reminiscent of the Alien eggs in the famous quadrology of films, the life encountered does give hints towards what manner of creatures you may expect to evolve from such forms. We don't know why the things are present on the planet or what the intentions of the engineers were on the planet, these questions aren't answered, you have to use your imagination and fill in some of the holes yourself. The film is more than open for a sequel and if another film is made then more questions will be answered about the engineers or "space jockeys", it does require you as a viewer to do some thinking of your own, perhaps that's the reason many thought this was a poorly executed film as not all questions are answered. One of the crew of the promeutheus does get "impregnated" with an unknown life form in a similar fashion to the "Alien" films though the process is more mysterious and suttle. The implant is surgically removed and havoc breaks loose aboard the ship as all crew members are affected one way or another by their strange discoveries. In this film, it is revealed to us what the "engineers" look like underneath their strange biomechanoid suits. It is also made apparent to us that even a race millions of years ahead of our own are still liable to make mistakes, as we discover the lifeforms, presumably created by the extra-terrestrial race are potentially lethal to even their kind. The surviving engineer who is awoken from a deep hypo sleep by the prometheus crew onboard an alien craft is attacked by the creature that is spawned from the removed implant, which raises the question of whether his duty on the planet was to destroy the serpant like things contained within the pods. Perhaps his craft crashed and he was unable to complete the mission, it's never explained to us. Far from just being simply another Hollywood cash spinning venture or a remake of an old film, I believe this movie at least goes partway to explaining the "space jockey" found in the first "Alien" film and the possible beginnings of the "xenomorph" species all sci-fi fans are familiar with and made its' first terrifying appearance on cinema screens in 1979.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GIFT IDEA FOR LOVERS OF SILVER, 18 Sep 2012
I recieved these earrings a christmas gift last year and was very pleased as I love silver jewellery and am a lord of the rings' fan. They don't look gaudy when worn and encased in each flower design is a cubic zircona which mimics the effect of the Nenya water ring. There are matching items available through Amazon to go with these earrings, I believe there's a silver flower neckalace that could be bought to go together with the earrings as an extra special gift. These are real sterling silver unlike other replicas I've looked at of Lord of the Rings jewellery, I'd take note of the materials used if you're planning to buy any of the replica jewellery as a gift or for yourself as I've read that a lot of them are simply silver plated and lightweight, in some cases the stones easily fall out after being worn a few times. For example the company Noble make a version of the evenstar pendant, I've read a review of it by a woman who said the centre stone fell out the first time she took it out of the box! Some companies clearly favour style over quality so I think customers need to be aware. I'd advise people to read the information provided carefully before making a purchase of any jewellery. These earrings are however a quality product.

5.0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC BARGAIN BOXSET, 31 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I PURCHASED THIS BOX SET LAST WEEK AND IT ARRIVED A FEW DAYS AGO. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE PURCHASE, IT CONTAINS ALL THE SERIES AND EPISODES OF POIROT INCLUDING THE FEATURE LENGTH EPISODES SUCH AS DEATH ON THE NILE AND MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, PROBABLY A COUPLE OF THE MOST FAMOUS POIROT MYSTERIES. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY BUY THIS SET IF YOU ARE A MURDER MYSTERY FAN OR JUST A FAN OF AGATHA CHRISTIES' FAMOUS BELGIAN DETECTIVE. AMAZON ARE CURRENTLY SELLING THIS AT A REAL BARGAIN PRICE, AT A LITTLE OVER 50 YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN. I REMEMBER LOOKING AT THIS SAME SET SOME TIME AGO AND IT BEING A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE, MORE CLOSER TO THE 100 MARK. YOU SHOULD GET IT CHEAPLY WHILE YOU CAN AS ITV HAVE AN ANNOYING HABIT OF RE-RELEASING THEIR DVD BOX SETS IN FANCY NEW PACKAGING EVERY SO OFTEN AND CHARGING THE CUSTOMER MORE THAN DOUBLE THE PRICE FOR THE SAME BOX SET. THIS PARTICULAR EDITION IS LIKELY A FEW YEARS OLD NOW WHICH IS WHY IT'S BEING SOLD CHEAPLY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GIFT FOR A FRIEND OR RELATIVE WHO LOVES A GOOD OLD FASHIONED MURDER MYSTERY THEN THIS IS PERHAPS THE IDEAL THING! IF YOU'RE NOT LOOKING TO SPEND THAT MUCH THEN THE DIFFERENT SERIES CAN BE BOUGHT SEPARATELY IN THEIR OWN PACKAGING, THOUGH IT'S FAR CHEAPER JUST TO BUY THE COMPLETE BOX SET IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO COLLECT THEM ALL. IT'S NO DOUBT GOING TO TAKE ME A WHILE TO GET THROUGH ALL THESE BUT IT WAS CERTAINLY WORTH THE MONEY.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT DOCUMENTATION OF A BANDS' HISTORY, 8 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this box set shortly before christmas very cheaply and I feel it was well worth the money. The first DVD is of a great show live in Mexico with the band performing a lenghthy set of their more recent material. There is an audio cd included of this show in the set. If like me you have only recently discovered Therion or have been a fan for a while I think you'll appreciate this compilation. The last disc is an audio cd of tracks both recent and older. I bought my copy through a company called Speedy Hen who were selling this set far cheaper than Amazon so I'd advise you buy from them if you can. If you would love to know what the band sound like live then the DVDS are very interesting to watch, they do sound just as great live as on the albums. I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT ALBUM FROM A GREAT METAL BAND., 8 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Theli (Audio CD)
I hadn't heard much of this bands' music till very recently, I bought their Lemuria/Sirius B double album set on a whim having read some very good reviews. I believe the band started out as a fairly run of the mill death metal band but they've obviously come a hell of a way since then. Both the heavy elements of the music and the symphonic elements and choirs do blend very well. I remember watching the video to the song "TO MEGA THERION" on a metal compilation video years ago and being very impressed by it. Most of their songs revolve around ancient religions, mystiscism and mythology which makes them a very interesting band in my opinion. I don't think this kind of music will ever gain much popularity here in the UK, people being too obsessed with x factor type rubbish but I know it has very good standing in Europe and this band have had a lot of influence on other symphonic metal bands. Some of the song lyrics are quite dark and you may find the titles a little strange such as "Cults of the Shadow" and "In the desert of Set" but I think you need to have a fairly open mind to appreciate this music, so if pop or rap music is more your thing I wouldn't bother with this. I do intend to buy more albums by this band, having been a fan of rock and metal music for the last decade. Even if you're not a fan of metal music, you could try out one of the bands' more recent albums such as "Sitra Ahtra" you may find yourself liking it.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TV SERIES SHAME ABOUT AMAZONS' PRE ORDER SERVICE., 6 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
With the ludicrous amount of rubbish T.V. around these days, it's often hard to find something decent to watch. I had already seen the full ten episodes of this series and loved it. You will probably find some aspects of the show confusing however if you haven't read the book. The book is very intricately detailed and long, the story is also told from the perspectives of the various characters including Eddard Stark, Robb Stark,King Robert Baraetheon, and the members of the Lannister family. The main story revolves around the suspicious death of King Robert not long after he has appointed Lord Stark of Winterfell as his hand and asks him to leave his ancestral home in the north and live with him and his family at Kings' landing, the seat of the king of the seven kingdoms. Meanwhile the exiled son and daughter of the "mad" king Aegon Targeryon are living amonst a nomadic horse people known as the Dothraki after the marriage of the daughter, Dearnerys Targeayon to the cheif or "khaal" of the tribe in the hope to raise an army to avenge the overthrown king and regain the Iron Throne. Roberts' son Joffery becomes king after his death even though his brother Renly Bareathon was due to inherit the throne. Eddard Stark is accused of treachery after he contacts Roberts' elder brother to let him know of his suspicions and to plead with him to fight for the throne. The wife of the king, Ceresi Lannister is from a power hungry noble family and is determined that none shall usurp her son. Eddard Stark is sentanced to death whilst the Lannisters' hold his eldest daughter captive, Starks son Robb raises an army and rises agaist the Lannisters. This is only part of the story and the producers of the show have done very well to condense down such a detailed story into a mere ten episodes. The story can be difficult to follow so it will really help if you have or are currently reading the book. I would say also that the show is largely aimed at adults due to the violence presented in some of the battle scenes and nudity. As mentioned in other reviews, these episodes only constitute the first book of a series of five, so even if they decide to make all the books into a TV series it's going to be many years from now when its' complete. If like me, you pre-ordered this DVD set from Amazon and we're expecting to recieve it on the release date (5th March 2012) you'll be dissapointed as I'm still waiting. Don't always fall for their pre-release nonsense, it dosn't always follow you'll recieve it before anyone else.

Womens Silver Flower & Ancient Chinese Characters Bangle / Bracelet / Metal Cuff
Womens Silver Flower & Ancient Chinese Characters Bangle / Bracelet / Metal Cuff

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD PEICE OF JEWELLERY, 12 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This bracelet is quite a thick bangle , I believe there are a few similar to this with different designs, this particular one has a floral design that covers most of the outside of the bracelet. The edges of the bracelet are covered with simple line symbols and small flower designs . The photo on the site is misleading as there is a gap in the bracelet so it is adjustable to fit your wrist. If you prefer bracelets to be more delicate looking or a thinner band then this maybe isn't for you. This would make an inexpensive gift for someone who likes silver jewellery or if you would like to treat yourself. The bracelet looks nice when worn and not too showy or in any way tacky as with some costume jewellery.

5.0 out of 5 stars neat little lamps, 12 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I spotted these lamps on amazon shortly before christmas and bought a couple of them. These work just like an old-fashioned oil lamp , the ceramic base is to hold the parrafin and the glass chimneys are removable and contain a wick which can be moved up or down with the metal cog on the side. The only downside I would give these is that they are only available in one colour for the bases which I personally don't like , I don't think the flower pattern is very flattering to the overall product. I suppose this could be resolved by painting the base if you so wish in gloss paint. This would make an ideal gift for someone who likes unusual things as it is very rare to find an actual victorian style oil lamp anywhere now.
